I really love your explanations but Avery, MacLeod and McCarty performed the experiment in "In vitro" system (outside the body of the host) they just observed in a Petri dish, that the addition of which enzyme turned the surface of R-strain bacteria from rough to smooth. They did not inject it in the mice.
