Also: Lavender Waxbills are known to be a bit of a sweet tooth - they like to eat fruits and flowers! Some breeders feed them flowers, pollen or propolis pellets, hummingbird nectar, fuits, juices and so on ... As for the sexing: in europe we have multiple DNA labs that offer sexing with feather samples. It cost around USD 10-15 per sample, depending on how many you send in.

So it looks like you're using Christmas wreath as foliage for them to build their nest. Am I correct? I did a double take...LOL. That's kind of cool if you did because you can configure it to ensure they get proper cover huh?
@paradiseaviary4 жыл бұрын
Yes the ones in the indoor cages have fake christmas tree limbs that i configure into circular tubes where they just go in and build the nest. Ive found this trick to be very good for african waxbills they feel very safe and hidden there.

@Mr. Aviary These and many other species of small waxbills are getting very hard to find here, not to many people work with them and imports have slowed down.

@paradiseaviary4 жыл бұрын
Termites are small ant like insects that eat wood. The birds in the wild naturally lool for these and its a great source of live food to offer them
