Thank you so much for advocating for these guys and giving them a much better life. As someone who runs a bird sanctuary, I see budgies in these conditions (the small cages) way too often. Seeing their first experience in the aviary is amazing :) We put lots of branches in our aviaries - one thing I will say is we leave all the leaves on for them to chew, which they also love foraging through when the leaves fall to the ground.

We have a couple of parakeets that bonded from the time they were babies. They have been with us for over 7 years. I trained them to stay in the dining room, so they never have to be locked up. They have a large cage, but we never close it. They are very happy, we don't handle them. They have a 6 foot stand in front of the glass door and they love it. They have other birds come and visit them, they have hawks and cats try to get in, but at this point they must know that they are safe because they are not afraid of anything. We hope to have them for another decade or more.

Might be worth mentioning that grabbing branches from the bush here in Australia where cockatoos and budgies are wild in the millions, you absolutely MUST carefully wash all branches in boiling hot water so your babies don’t catch things like beak and feather disease or bird flu. I have a pink cockatoo X little corella, love to get him treats from nature just as chew toys, healthier diet and stimulation. He knows when we return from a bushwalk he gets a log or a branch to chew on. We have never introduced anything without cleaning it in boiling water first.

Dude, put a safety porch on there and make that door bigger. That would be a nightmare. I would never wanna go in my aviary and sit with my birds, if I had to go through that door😂 Thoose parakeets completely destroyed your plants too I bet. Little rascals:)

How do you tell a male from a female parakeet?
@VloggingByHadi Жыл бұрын
A male has a blue nose when mature, a pink nose when little. A female has a brown nose when mature, and white nose when little. The "noses" are called a 'cere'
