The call that asked you if you had the field in sight should have been made when you were turning downwind, ie when you called the Director. They should not have expected you to see the field when it was behind you. In any case, these guys are fantastic!

Heading is 341 at takeoff but Course states 011 on intrument panel. Are you still setup for Northern Hemisphere in some setting??

They are not the same. Heading bug should be set to runway heading. The course bugs are simply for setting courses for VOR radials or for ILS inbound courses. You can set them as convenient for departure, like a certain VOR radial you're going to be flying on on the SID, or just to set the ILS inbound courses in case of immediate return.
