Great video of one of the greatest airplanes of all times. Mossies excelled at virtually every job given to them.

I shot this AC at the West Memphis airshow in Tenn. USA, got some of the greatest photos with my new (at tthe time) Cannon T-90. This is how such and aircraft should be flown, not thrown around doing loops, steep climbs, rolls etc. That's what got the other flying mossie destroyed at the airshow in England a short time ago. Kermit knew what he was doing, and knew when it was time to put such a rare machine on static display. Wonderful vid.

@58Vulcan Mosquito Aircraft Restoration, Auckland, New Zealand. They are building two new Mossies from scratch and have revived the knowledge and techniques to build these wooden airframes.

The Mosquito being restored by Victoria Air Maintenance Ltd. in Victoria, BC is progressing well. There are a lot of great photos on their web site and you can follow it's progress there. Maybe they have a time frame for completion.

The Mosquito featured in this video is now on static display at the EAA Airventure Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The video was shot in 1988 at the Hamilton, Ontario Airshow. At present I am aware of two being restored to flying condition, one in Auckland, New Zealand and one in Victoria, BC, Canada by Victoria Air Maintenance Ltd.

as the "boy"15 years old working for "AIRWORK" at Hornchurch,Essex,England i flew in RS712 formating along side RS718 giving practice for ground based radar stations in south east england.that was in 1956,Also although it seems unblevable now i was allowed to warm up the Merlin engines by myself in cockpit taking them up to -12LBS boost one at a time hanging on to the control column as i tested for mag. drop, oil pressure, and coolant temp.Hornchurch as an airfield closed down soon after and i lost my job.

remember seeing this mossie and the chester one flying together in the late eightees/ early ninetees at broughton.......have an official picture somewhere that i should upload..

With as few surviving specimens of the Mosquito left, I salute the owner for donating it to for a static display. The airframe alone must be nearly impossible to maintain due to the lack of original materials and the expertise to make the repairs (it is not aluminium and rivets after all).

meanwhile----there's been a fantastic resurrection in interest and Mosquito fever, all because of New Zealand genius and determination.

Thats now four with two more being done in New Zealand, one by Glyn Powell who has the molds and is doing an ex-RNZAF example and one that arrived recently from the UK I think it was but i think it will be going to the US once its finished. Getting spoilt for choice!

YES ! Finally somebody agrees with me. I photograph airshows as a hobby (at least I did when I could travel, limited to about 150 miles now), including THIS Mossie the same yr when it flew at West Memphis, and it drives me nuts hearing these morons who seem to know nothing about the subject matter. One guy was drunk one yr at the VAC show in Titusville (late 80s), and the whole crowd was laughing at him because he sounded like the news commentator in "Bruce Almighty" when Jim Carrey got pissed.
