I recently set up my military edition. I ended up 3D modeling and printing a keyboard extension to bring it closer to me as I use the side stick approach and find the keyboard was too far away. I have Virpil stuff and will also be tweaking the mouse area to increase the height. Maybe I'm old, but it kind of needs arm rests and wrist rests. Mostly because this is my main computer, so I need it to be comfortable enough to sit in for most normal use. The frame is freaking rigid - no creaks or anything. I ended up tilting it backwards by putting spacers under the front and middle feet to give it a bit more of a reclined feel. The tilting keyboard mount works nice for getting in and out.

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP I was able to get Virpil stuff sorted as there are enough holes in the plates to get something to line up. There are many holes on the side of the chair make it pretty straight forward to mount more stuff - for example that alternate/spare green side mount I plan on mounting behind my throttle on the left side to put a button panel on it to free up the vertical extension part that you're using for the mouse surface. I don't have a desk with my setup, so I designed mounts for the Cougar panels to attach to the keyboard tray. I also made a mount to put my Virpil iPad/keyboard holder in the middle like you have on your desk. I love that it came with tons of extra fasteners as adding all these bits saves having to run to the hardware store to get equivalents. Biggest complaint I have right now is the center stick mount is too high for those of us who use extensions to get the long center stick feel. The chair itself looks awesome, so if they did sell it separately I would be a potential buyer.

Universal mounting in the center spot. It’s probably the biggest discussion point I have with them right now. The current set up, does allow you to move the crossbar down two more times to lower the stick for extensions, but it puts it farther away from you unless you use a helicopter style curb stick that brings the stick back in your lap more.

Although I don't have this chair, I did have an idea as to whether mounting some aluminium profiles would be an option. Some of the holes on the sides certainly look like they're spaced enough for a profile. But obviously a native solution would be better.

I have this chair, you can use the bottom holes to mount the center mount, and you can add a 100mm extension. With the seat all the way forward you have plenty of reach for a straight extension. It perfectly puts the stick between your thighs so you can rest your hand on your thigh while doing AAR for precise movements.

NLR said they have a future flight cockpit setup coming out that the seat could be sold separately, it is all in black but I’d prefer the green cushion. Just thought I’d pass the news in case anyone was looking for a center cutout seat for their existing rig.

I just got the Boeing Commercial edition, and I had the same issue as you with the mount for the stick/mouse mount on the right being too low, I'm going to try what you did with the 2X4, but my recommendation for them is the side mounts for HOTAS need to be able to come up higher. The bottom seat comfort has also been lacking for me, had to add extra padding. Other than those two things its a huge upgrade and well worth the price.

I would like to know what the comfort level of the seat is. It looks the part, but the real thing is suitable for several hours non-stop use. I would consider this, if I could also double up as a compact office solution, and for this the chair needs to be more than just OK. Also, the quoted warranty is "1 year", which really gives me pause for the longevity of the seat, and especially the padding.

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Thanks, that would be great! Agree, its very subjective thing to assess. I know this seems silly - but for me, the biggest issue I have is purely aesthetic with regard to the Next Level Racing embroidered element on the seat headrest. It just feels tacky and kind of not "flight sim" oriented. I get it's their brand and all that, just wish that it was instead like a velcro patch system or something to where you could put anything you wanted - a flag, squadron emblem etc. More customizable and stylistically varied. I don’t really get numb butt, however, I do need to adjust the undercarriage a little bit every now and then, as it gets a little sticky in the undies down there from sitting too long. BC sitting is the new smoking as far as what it does for your health. And I know when I move around I feel a lot better especially as I get older. Pushing 60 this year!

Thanks for the video. I currently have my WH HOTAS on my desk, along with Cougar MFDs, Streamdeck, mouse and keyboard. It's really cluttered. Was considering getting some Monstertech desk mounts, but then I found this and I'm a bit torn. My other problem is that as well as DCS I also play Star Citizen, which means that although during DCS I don't need the keyboard that much, for SC I do as I need to be able to transition easily between flight and FPS. I don't know how I'd do that with either solution, especially if I go centre stick. Feel a bit stuck TBH. You mentioned being able to use this setup for FPS. Is that because you don't centre stick though, so just slide the chair all the way front? Not sure that would help my SC problem though as I'd have to constantly be sliding the chair forwards and backwards during a play session.

Yes, anything on the PC other than DCS World is chair all the way forward, I fly 2 inches back from forward, and if I need to write or draw something, I use a clipboard for notes while working on anything like a video, mission editing, etc. Easy Peasy for me so far. Hope this helps. ~Juice

@@AIRWARFAREGROUP Interesting. Is the chair in the flight position in the video, or pulled back? It looks like a long reach to the keyboard and a very long reach to the MFDs. Perhaps a future vid of you actually using the pit as is would be good, as we'd be able to see the ergonomics better?

I'm really close to canceling my Monstertech MTS pit and just getting this one instead. The MTS will seemingly take months to get here and was over $2000 (without the seat; I already have one). The center stick height is the only thing really holding me back from this pit. Does the chair slide forward and back or can it be mounted further forward or back? Thanks for the review! Subscribed!

As already a lot of people pointed out, I'm waiting to hear about the possibility to buy the seat alone or as a spare part (this one or the other one not Boeing licensed). There's almost NO possibility to buy a seat with cloche cutout in the base, at the moment. I think they will sell a lot of seats if they are able to handle this request.

I dont feel this should be a la carte... 800 bucks and it comes with all the crap one would typically a la carte is a win win. I find all the other kits that you do piece mill and customize are overpriced, bc the seat doesnt even come with and all the accessories are extra cost. In all reality, they are all probably 300 bucks of aluminum.
@AIRWARFAREGROUP

Yeah, it’s a good point you have. A lot of people will probably buy it for 500 and then spend a couple hundred dollars on the actual parts they want and some people would even buy the seed alone just to make their own custom seven pit per the questions and feedback that I’ve gotten so far. But you’re probably right, I have a box of extras that I don’t use from the company that I don’t use and are just sitting there.
