I find it tragically ironic that out of all Marika's children Miquella seems to be the one that takes after her the most despite the fact that he so harshly criticized her choices. They both did whatever they need to do in order to being about what each believe would be the best Age while justifying all the sacrifices and awful things that lead to it. The only difference is that Marika succeeded and lived long enough to regret it verifying St. Trina's warning of what would happen to Miquella if he succeeded.
@eviltoad746Күн бұрын
I love how this captures both the well intentioned ambition and the misguided mistakes of Miquella's path. He felt like he had to lose himself to be enough, but never stopped to think that losing who he is would be the very thing to alter his path in the wrong direction
@ghost32100020 сағат бұрын
I have to wonder if Marika had a similar journey.

Miquella's story is a grim reminder of how easily we can lose sight of what really matters in grim times. In our efforts to drastic change in one swoop, we can cause just as much damage as the villains we fight if not more. Keep up the fight for freedom, hope and justice, but never forget who or what you stand for.

This song has been weirdly inspiring for me as of late because of my depressive state. It has made me feel a bit better about myself, and it has made me feel like I have control over whatever path I set for myself. I have listened to this song and "Burn" the most from the new album. And I cannot thank you enough for it.

I was so used to the album version of it (with just the cover art), so when I turned off my brain to listen to it again I was jumpscared by it being the actual video
@g.e261718 сағат бұрын
It took me a while to realize this, (and I honestly made this comment on the original video), but - well. The final lines - "I won't be the same" - struck me as having two meanings. The obvious one is how Miquella won't be himself anymore after he cut out Trina - and the second is how he's promising himself that he won't be like his mother despite that (and how, despite that promise, he is still doing horrible things. He's got all the good intentions in the world, and is still casting shadows).
@triplej26532Күн бұрын
This song perfectly sums up the lore about Miquella the kind in Elden Ring. The path of Promise to be the last shining light or be like many others in Casting Shadows. Listening to the two sides of conflict and hesitation takes courage for one to choose what is the righteous path to take. The vibes with the instrumental in this track shows that I am not alone in the world of conflict and hesitation. What people around actually think about me, the problems that go on in this world and how to solve that conflict is a challenge in itself. We all have a role to accomplish something in life and to carve a path for a better future when a new generation of people rise. While those that cast shadows continue to repeat the past errors that has been attempted before, thus their fate is sealed in the end. I will treasure this track for many more years in the future.

This has to be my favorite of the Casting Shadows album, I know Miquella turns out to be a bad guy, but this song has so much emotions and I love the way you have utilized guitar in this album, I just can't say enough good things. Anyway, I love Miquella's story because he starts out with obvious good intensions but he ends up being the thing he sought to destroy which is ironic because he is "still casting shadows the same" as you put it. It just carries so much weight and is a great song. Great job on this album, I can't wait for your future projects.

I like thie one. Miquella's desperate hope that his sacrifice works is pretty sad, all things considered.
@kisukoevКүн бұрын
It's especially sad because he was destined to fail. Everything that went wrong in his life wasn't even his fault (probably Marika's) and he just wanted to make things better and, in his eternally childish mind, make everyone happy. Unfortunately, the adult thing to do (therefore impossible for him) sometimes is to just move on, accept the mistakes of the past and either start from zero (Ranni's ending), or make the best of your current situation (Fia/Goldmask endings)

It sounds like there's just so much doubt in the lyrics like Miquella wants to believe what he's doing is right and through the chorus literally shedding his doubts. I like to imagine the fade as he ascends is like some beam of light and the tarnished is waiting as it fades to slay him as a new god is born. I hope Burn and Imperfected get their just videos too theyre the other best parts of this album

Beautiful composition as always, and as many others have already said so. For some reason I really struggle to understand the lyrics when just listening to it. I cannot tell whether the orchestra is drowning out your voice, or if it's the muffling/distorting effect on your voice, but it's really annoying me that I cannot comprehend what you are singing about, unless I am staring at the lyrics. I presume it's part of an artistic direction, but just thought I'd mention it in case it's my speaker settings, and others can actually understand the words to the song, or whether it is meant to by borderline unintelligible at parts.

Question for the lore masters and all-knowings out there: Why did Miquella have to abandon parts of himself to reach divinity?
@sultanmalik9808Күн бұрын
As an Empyrean he was already a vessel for divinity. But the vessel was already full, with himself. So in order to become divine, the vessel must be emptied first, all that remaining being the purpose for which they ascended. We see the consequences of such a thing with Marika's character post-ascension. A young lady, a mother doing all in her power to heal her afflicted child, emptied herself of all she was in the name of vengeance, and in becoming divine she became capable of callousness and cruelty on a scale she could never have fathomed before her ascension. But Miquella ascended for the purpose of making the world kinder place, so we cannot say for sure exactly what his divinity would've actually entailed, the extent of his mind-control powers are fuzzy.
@edeni7933Күн бұрын
As I understand, he wanted to dispose of everything that connected him with the past - with his family, his mother and all her mistakes, with the Golden Order. To start the new age from zero. And also he wanted to dispose of everything that made him imperfect in his own eyes - including even his love. Apparently he thought that love would make him prejudiced and generally "too human", he wanted to be perfect and detached, didn't want to have any personal attachments left. Also St. Trina, who personified his love, didn't want him to become a god, so she would oppose him anyway, and considering she already had her own worshippers, she could become a rival to his age. So he tried to kill her. As well as everything he deemed imperfect and everything that could get in his way to achieving power to bring his vision of the new world. This is how I understand the plot.
