Hi si.Great advice as usual i use a similar rig to yours fished for 30 odd years and my rigs bog standard 😀 when u are blanking and others seem to be catching how do you think forward? (Confidence issue)thanks david

Great video. Do you ever add putty to pin your rig down in certain situations or do you like the free movement of the supple braid?
@SimonCrow3 жыл бұрын
I prefer the free movement of the braid but occasionally I will pin it down, such as in very shallow water when the carp see things better

Funny how, 'line aligners' have suddenly become 'the rig of the moment', it's something that has been around for about about thirty five years. You only need to read what Jim Gibbinson had written in the early 1990's about this 'rig', to see where the idea came from...
@rich47382 жыл бұрын
I can't get my head around the mechanics of the line aligner, you'd think it would make it easier for the carp to eject due to closing down gape
@christiancaudell53207 ай бұрын
why not tie the hair loop before tying up the rig?
@AvidCarpFishingTV7 ай бұрын
By doing it this way it allows you to have multiple hook links tied with long untied hairs for a multitude of bait 👍🏼
@bennicholson1913 жыл бұрын
To me one of the best anglers around, my question is why si don't you tie your hair 1st then set out how long you want it ? Is it just how you learnt ? To me it seems easier to do the hair 1st interesting vid tho 👍
@SimonCrow3 жыл бұрын
Cheers pal. I don't do it your way because - although it's marginal - as you tighten the knotless knot and bed it down, it can affect the hair length. I like my hookbait in a specific spot (touching the bend of the hook). It has to be tight but not too tight. Even a tiny adjustment to the hair length isn't how I want it, so I tie this part last.

@@SimonCrow fair play bud suppose ppl do it differently for their own confidence wasn't a dig or anything just curiosity 👍

The reason that a rig can pull through the eye of a hook is simple. You need to whip the knot less knot on the opposite side to where the small gap is.
@SimonCrow3 жыл бұрын
Sorry pal but that won't stop it... Some eyes aren't completely closed and the fibres from braid somehow make their way out of the eye when playing fish (the twisting and turning). That's why using a line aligner or piece of tubing helps
@nickblades90243 жыл бұрын
@@SimonCrow I had a spell years back where I’d hook into a fish and all of a sudden it was gone and the hook had come off. Not snapped but the hook missing. I’d been using a different hook and after looking the bend was closed opposite side to my normal hooks. All I had to do to stop it happening was to whip the hook link away from the closure and it worked.. well it worked in that situation and thought this maybe the same. Anyway, keep the videos coming Simon. Love em.
