Training on Garmin touchscreens today in small airplanes and seeing these new pilots being typed on old CRTs and Round Gauges while using paper charts is so different. We forget how different aviation was only a few years ago. Venezuela is fascinating!

I was very close to flying for this company but an American visa problem prevented me from flying with Avior... I no longer live in Venezuela but at that time I was excited to fly the 200 at that time Avior had about 11 airplanes which is a shame that now they only have A few... I know all those people who appear in your video. I hadn't seen them in years. Thanks to you, I was able to see them and know that at least you have plans to grow again.

Gabriel, thank you for another wonderful video. I'm a Brit, lived in Caracas 1990-93, and returned at least 20 times after that on brief work-contracts (oil, of course). I've flown all the Venezuelan airlines, all over the country; even a DC-3 out of Canaima. The most exhilarating flights were out of Merida, 1.5km altitude, 1.6km runway, with a notable uphill slope, in Avensa 727s; I once heard that they were specially engined to cope with that. Please keep up the great work. I left a big piece of my heart in beautiful Venezuela.

Gabriel, I’m so grateful to you for documenting Venezuelan aviation and allowing us, who left years ago, to enjoy some of our legendary aviation history. Venezuelan pilots were always very well regarded worldwide, now you had a glimpse of how good our people is, and how beautiful our country is. Sadly millions of us had to leave in order to keep our lives going. In the 80’s and 90’s aviation was blooming, I enjoyed some of that era ❤️

Venezuela is one of those countries that looks like nothing you’ve seen before, beautiful. There has always been something special about this particular aircraft. As a student pilot learning all of the fundamental concepts of flying, it is seriously incredible to see these pilots flying with such old school technology using the same techniques. It’s really special to see them operating in Venezuela still, and it has inspired me to someday visit countries alike which have hidden aviation gems like the B732.

Last time I was on a 737-200 was in 2006 on the defunct Canadian low cost carrier Canjet. Got an amazing view of the thrust reversers on landing and the runway was very wet so it was even more spectacular. In 1993 when I was 10 years old I flew on a Canadian Airlines 737-200. I had asked to see the flight deck but it was too close to landing on the first leg (Toronto to halifax). Boy they had a surprise for me! They let me jump seat the takeoff from Halifax on the second leg to St John's Newfoundland.

Nice report, you sort of touched on the reason for 1 year in maintenance. Typically the airline has to pay for parts in US Dollars or Euros. The government only releases small amounts of money to Companies as they have it. Tough to plan work in these conditions.

Im born in 2004, and remember these planes for so many trips to Margarita and back to Barquisimeto. These and the MD80s are the reason of my love for aviation. One day I hope to be an Aerospace Engineer, and get to participate in projects like the -200 that transcend multiple generations. Beautiful to see these old birds still actively flying and maintained specially at Venezuela where even new cars struggle to keep up with the situation.

I've always wanted to travel to Venezuela. It seems like such a cool place to be. The environment, the attractions too. The only place that I've been to in South America was Costa Rica, which was part of our school language trips. I love the old 737-200, much better than flying a United 737 MAX 8 to Costa Rica. I was anxious the whole 4 hour flight. During the landing, it was either the pilots taking "steps" down, or it was MCAS that made the ride bumpy.
