"Avocets: Extinct to Thriving in UK!"

According to the RSPB and Wildlife Trusts, once extinct in the UK, the avocet's incredible recovery symbolizes the triumph of conservation efforts. Protected under Schedule 1, disturbing avocets is an offense. More than any other species, they embody bird protection in the UK. Their 1940s comeback and population surge mark one of the greatest conservation successes ever.
