As a Spaniard born in Barcelona let me share some tips with you: -1. Don't eat nor drink anything at the RAMBLAS or near SAGRADA FAMILIA. We citizens know that quality-prices in these areas can be almost considered a scam. Avoid that zones if you really want to taste local food. -2. We spanish don't drink as much "sangria" as you think. Try "tinto de verano" instead which is closer to our habits. -3. Please, please, please, keep your belongins safe. No need to get obsessed with it but always be cautious. -4. For whatever visit to city landmarks you should previously check official websites.

Be careful when traveling in Barcelona. My wife had her cell phone stolen while entering the Parallel metro station. The gate suddenly refuse to open with the metro card then someone bumped into her and reach into her coat pocket to take the device. If something unexpected happens you can bet someone is looking to distract you to steal your stuff.

Not only look down at the pavement, which might only be valid for Barcelona, but for all cities, also look up. If you only look around at "ground level" you might miss wonderful facades or rooftop features higher up.

Good video and tips. We visited in August 2002 and stayed in the Hotel Continental on Ramblas, booked 7 nights. Around the corner from the metro at Placa Catalunya. The hotel was B&B and they also had a tea/coffee area with biscuits all day long. The room had a small balcony with table and 2 chairs. Across ramblas from the hotel was a Supermecado where we sourced most of our evening meals. We planned the trip using a Spain Travel book. Listed everything we wanted to see, marked on maps. We walked, and walked and walked. And ticked off the list. The only time we used public transport was the bus to Gaudi Park and the train to Montserrat. Walking ensured that we saw far more interesting buildings and churches and some dicey areas. Eating out whether a meal or just tapas get away from the tourist areas and look where the locals eat and drink. Beware of the paella 'specials', not worth the money. I kept a book where I recorded what we saw each day and the other side of the book what we spent each day. Back home recorded it all in an Excel. August is summer, holiday season in Europe, daily temps were 35c starting at 29c. Drink lots of fluids.

Great video. Saw this vid, did planning, then I drove 2.5weeks in spain and a little bit in france (narbonne). Useful advice in this video. Underground car park $25-30ish a day I found. I'm not european so i couldnt seem to get online app deals (better prices) . sigh. I did not go to Sagrada F, luckily didnt buy ticket as i got sick on the 3rd day. Downtown areas near medieval quarter and the areas just northwest of that was quite stinky in terms of car pollution, same with areas of Granada. Barcelona' architecture in so many places was totally beautiful, I was very impressed.

We'll be visiting Barcelona a total of 9 days in September. We're splitting it up a bit by spending the first 7 nights there, then 4 nights in Marseille, then back to Barcelona for the final 2 days. We plan on two day tours, one that covers the Dali museum, the other that goes to Andorra. To say we're super psyched would be an understatement.
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Жыл бұрын
Hi there. In our opinion, a day trip to Andorra makes no sense at all. You will spend more time on the road that in Andorra and then, in Andorra itself, where will you go? You need four or five days to explore reasonably well the country. See other excellent (and more suitable) day trips from Barcelona here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGe7cpuEjbeEY9k

@@clubmogambo3214 Well, a day trip to Andorra is not a catastrophyc desicion. The capital is not a big monumental city, but it worths a visit and a walk for a few hours. Just keep in mind that it is at least 3 hours far, and also that you will see the mountains around you but you wont be able to hiking, or visiting the famous spa, or any other cultural visit. For us is a "weekend destination". Ah, and don't walk only in the main avenue of shops, the old town is not spectacular but still have some nice spot, like Casa de la Vall.

The Blabla rides come up though. Do you recommend the BlaBla service, is it safe? Or do you a better way for us to get to Calella de Palafrugell? We would really appreciate some advice please. We are from Queensland in Australia and hear you love Australia or Perth where you visited. It is a fabulous city and beautiful country. Thank you so much. Have a wonderful day. Arnaum and Ben.

Hi Arnaum and Ben, in the vast majority of cases, if you can't find a bus or train ticket for a date a few months ahead, it's because it hasn't been introduced in the system yet. To make sure, check a date before or after your intended date of travel - if you can't find tickets for those dates either, that's because they are not being sold yet. We wouldn't use BlaBlaCar unless you had previous experience of how the system works. We love Australia indeed and hopefully will be back soon! All the best to you!

I wanted to know if Barcelona Sants train station ( or anywhere in Barcelona central actually) had luggage storage and the cost. We are a family of 5 and don't want to arrive early in the day but not have our bags with us until we can access our accomodation. Our other option is to try to change our accomodation days and arrive early in Madrid via train so the same question for Atocha station. Also do you have anymore Menu Del Dia recommendations as one of the restaurants in your video has now closed and it looked really good. Thank you M.

Hi, We are traveling to Barcelona in mid August( in 2 weeks) and we can't wait. I came upon your channel and they are so very helpful! I have a question to ask you. If our family devotes one day(our second day) to visit Park Guell @9 am, Sagrada Familia @2pm, visit Hospital de Sant Pau, and then visit Casa Mila at night, would this be too much? Do you agree the order of the activities? We stay near Placa de Catalunya and the very first full day, we plan visiting Barri Gotic walk, Barcelona Cathedral tour and Picasso museum. Maybe we can visit Casa Mila on the first day since it is not too far from our hotel? What time of the day do you recommend that we visit Casa Mila? Thank you so much!
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal 3 ай бұрын
Hi Ashley, first of all, if you enter the Sagrada Familia at 2 pm, you might not have much time of the Hospital de Sant Pau, check the closing times. Four major attractions in one day would be quite an intense (and probably exhausting) day. You can visit La Pedrera (Casa Mila) any time you prefer. It is quieter first thing in the morning and after lunch time.

Hello Lisa, the hospital is opened on Sundays indeed. All beaches in Barcelona are touristic and busy, specially on hot days. You should try the ones furthest away from the centre, such as Mar Bella and Llevant. We wouldn't spend a minute on Barcelona beaches as we feel there are a million other more interesting places to visit in the the city, but then that's our personal preference.
