Honestly dating apps absolutely annihilated my self-esteem. The constant ghosting, matching with next to no one, the "message you once and never speak to you again" people which is honestly in the same vein as people who just never initiate conversation or ever message you. Prompting you to ask why they still have you matched? Who knows! They for some reason won't ever delete you though! Doing all the work in conversations, the conversation lives and dies with you, they put in no effort and don't try to keep it going and making subjects, asking questions about you n' all that. I hate these stupid dating sites, and i've been trying to find a partner since college, i'm in my late twenties now and honestly i'm just so utterly bitter and resentful about it all. And the worse part is I don't even know how you're supposed to meet women irl. These days you're essentially labeled as a creep just for looking at or talking to a woman. It's truly unbelievable. Everyone tells me to meet women at bars or whatever, but I don't drink and like, the type of people i'm interested in don't hang out at bars. Work's not the best place for that, and these days people at jobs don't even want to be friends or talk to you/acknowledge you outside of the job, let alone try to pursue dating. I just don't know what the fu*k to do anymore in terms of relationships in general. It's like everyone expects you to put in all the work while they do nothing back. And people just overly valuing themselves.

I would say focus on your weaknesses in life. For me i had everything going except one thing. I didn’t own a vehicle but was driving for nearly 8 years. I thinks its also a logical conclusion to say that the sexual attraction is gonna be more intense the more attractive she is. I need to use a really weird metaphor I learned a while ago here, but think it'll make sense when I'm talking about womans sexual attraction. When a man masturbates he's obviously gonna try to maximize the intensity of the emotion. Looks play a major role, but I doubt a lot of men imagine a assertive masculine woman during that, because thats a huge turn off. Most will obviously think about a submissive and attractive woman. So the biggest emotional load comes from Looks + feminine personality traits The same thing has to be true for woman. They need to create an emotional load somehow. So they're obviously gonna imagine a really attractive guy, but also a dominant one. They're not gonna imagine a crying annd scared wimp. And imo that's where this whole be confident thing comes from. Internet created false demand as many men are willing to date down in terms of looks. When those women realize that those high quality men are NOT willing to get into relationships with them but are interested ONLY in short term hook -ups they lower down their expectations with time. It was about looks back then also, just exacerbated nowadays. The only difference was women didn't get that they can always ride the carouselle, and really wanted to get married or male's income. I do have to admit I always considered myself as a 7/10 guy (I’m 24), as you called it in the “Above average guy” and I used Tinder. Since I used it I felt completely astonished that most of the times I realize the girls that usually swipe right on me (so that could be interested in me) are in the majority of the cases completely unattractive to me. It’s not that I don’t find them pretty enough, usually they are full of red flags or have unlikable behaviors, or simply we are on completely different pages (which can be normal). And when I match with one of those, it’s usually already a very good result if the conversation goes through the second message, because 90% it’s like you are asking them a favor just by talking to them. After all this said, it usually depends on the place you live and how your colture think you should behave as a man (in my case I’m italian, so I always have to message first, make the first move or ask out, otherwise they will never make a move on you). Certainly for guys, the question would be, what is the alternative? I think once women that are 6/10 or below realise after a few months the chad's they swipe yes on aren't choosing them then they get frustrated and swipe yes on guys they 'settle' to choose, that's why so many have an attitude because they are resentful that chad didn't choose them.

Nobody likes having to lower their standards. Those average chicks might have put out for a drunk/depressed Chad a few times and then thought that type of guy would be their baseline. It's like, no, you got used as a human fleshlight and the vast majority of guys in that range want nothing to do with women like you. Then, as you mentioned, when they start to accept reality and date guys closer to them on the looks scale there's that bitter resentment attitude problem. And some guys will. It's disgusting the level of power imbalance and entitlement and uppity princess mindset with standards through the roof. I will admit it. 4 years ago I used to use POF to find girls for pump and dump. Unlike tinder you didn't need to match to talk to girls. I sort of had game and I went after girls that were either fat or that I felt had a promiscuous vibe. All the girls I hooked up with were emotionally unstable in one way or the other. Either way POF has changed now and the market is harder. I don't use dating apps anymore and have adjusted my preferences to be better

I slayed on there in 2018 myself. But eventually it seemed that most of the girls were obese single moms, or the random strung out addict. So I abandoned it. I've checked back in a time or two since and it still seems like trash. But much like you, the easy lays from POF that were also supplemented with tinder and in person hunting made me value sex so little that my standards have gotten insanely high. I'll do without for months before I actively try to fuck anything below a 7.5, and even that isn't appealing most of the time. I'd rather chase my hobbies.

I'm 6'5 and I clearly listed that in my profile, I have a nice face, blue eyes, clean cut in-shape guy. Not a model but definitely above average. Would say I'm in the top 20% maybe even top 10-15%. I struggled to find a quality woman on dating apps, I found plenty of average women to pump and dump, but when it came time to find an undamaged young woman without kids who I found attractive enough to pursue a relationship with, it was pretty much non existent. Imagine how bad it is for men who aren't 6'5 and aren't handsome. Guys you gotta get off these apps.

Unfortunately this is quite accurate and why stopped using dating apps. Im not a 9 or 10 in looks but in person, I’m attractive enough to date women who are - in real life and I have - but online I get treated average. I often find that despite getting hundreds of matches, most of them are mentally unstable, single mothers, old pictures, or loose women. And I always get the sense I’m in competition with other guys. Unless you’re ridiculously good looking or rich, tinder is a headache.
