An alternative method of reducing the light if you have no other options is to use a filter. I was having a major light stress issue in the early stages of my current grow but there was nothing more I could do as far as increasing the distance between my light and my plant goes, so I got creative and did something I've done outside with my normal garden when the summer sun was way too intense. My plant was stressing and not growing at all for about two weeks, so I used a lace curtain that wasn't being used in my house and draped it across the frame I would later be using for a scrog net, and within days the plant started to grow just like it should. I used the curtain because it was already in my house for one thing, but also, much like a sun filter you might get at a garden store, it's a fine mesh with many tiny holes that still allow plenty of light through while also blocking a lot of light that was excessive for the stage of growth the plant was at. Not too dissimilar from a window screen but with a slightly less fine mesh, and made of thin white threads. I highly recommend this if you're limited to a strong grow light without a dimmer and no other space, or weaker light options for seedlings or younger small plants. This honestly saved my grow a few months ago and now I'm about to harvest a solid 4 square feet of wall to wall beautiful flowers.

@Eric C the plant height wasn't my issue in this case, it was the intensity of the light being too much for my young plant. I ran out of room to increase the distance between the plant and the light, with the plant being all the way on the floor and the light nearly touching the ceiling of the tent. I have dealt with the height issue in the past though, training is your best friend in that situation, if you get at it early enough that is.

@@young-stove I've used a layer of pretty thick, clear plastic, over my clone/seedling domes while they were on the floor of the tent. The light was as high as it gets, with bigger plants vegging, and this seemed too bright for the little ones..?! While I wasn't having any problems, yet, this extra plastic seems to reflect, as well as dull the light a bit. Experimenting around at this moment, myself. Great example given by you! A Coincidence..?! No, just Synchronicity!👍💯✌️🙏

@Eric C Right. Almost happened last time, but the tops started to hang some, as they got heavier. It worked out well, but too close for comfort, that time!👍💯✌️🙏

Yahoo!!! Hello everyone! ✌️ Things to avoid…. 1. Zipping up a tent without an inline fan to exhaust! 2. Humidity spikes causing PM. 3 Trying to dry a plant without a stable environment around 60% humidity, 4. Finally don’t transplant from a larger pot to a smaller one this is important… 😂

Just learned my problems are light intensity. 2nd grow for me, DWC, using an SF4000 and was up to 80% hitting about 80k lux on my top colas causing light stress on the leaves, which I thought was a nute deficiency. Also the very tops of the colas are starting to deform, glad its only been a week and I've just dropped my lighting back to 70k lux before even commenting. Growing a Barneys Farm Amnesia Haze auto, only 1 that's damn near filling a 4x4. Some hiccups along the way with this strain but she has some weight and lovely smells. I'm hoping she comes out well in the end! 3-4 weeks to harvest as it stands.

It took me six weeks to get past the seedling stage on my first grow. My biggest mistakes were to much water, to much light, and not knowing the magic of cal/mag.

the biggest mistake I see beginner growers do is they set up a tent in their closet, set up the exhaust fan to exhaust the air back into the closet, they close their closet doors and wonder why it gets hot and humid and their plants aren't doing very well. AIR EXCHANGE is key! That doesn't mean having lots of oscillating fans inside your tent, that is just providing air movement, but air exchange is giving your plants fresh c02 rich air to breath, not recycled hot oxygen rich air! My buddy had a setup this way, invested in a dehumidifier, an additional AC unit, and a c02 tank! All this and he was changing the dhum 3 times a day, giant buckets of water. He coudlnt' keep up with the hassle. One day I came over with a 4inch hole saw drill bit and put his duct fan in the attic, problem solved and now he grows huge buds!
