Great advice and easy to follow and implement. it took me a long time to figure out that i had to have the face angle mirror the spine angle and that a solid backswing produces a good downswing. This is the kind of advice that makes paying for lessons a good choice in my opinion. dont struggle for years as i have trying to make the inside takeaway work. it will drive you crazy! so many of my flaws and difficulty were from this move. Thanks Michele, i wish you were not so far away.

Wow, I never noticed it before until you mentioned the elbow. Looking back, every time I hit a ball that veers right seemed both your explanation - breaking my elbow too soon or a weak grip. I proved it to myelf on last Sunday's game when I focused on my grip and 95% of my shots went to the intended target. The few misses was exactly the breaking of the elbow too soon where the ball went a few yards straight right (I'm right handed), like an open club face hit. To be honest, I've lowered my handicap 12 points since watching your videos and I know I will break 80 soon. Thank you Michele for all the easy tips and explanations.

In the introductory part, so beautifully you demonstrate the "hinging/caulking" of wrists, holding on to the hinge all the way down the swing & trigger it just at the right moment prior to impact! I watch this over and over again. This has magical effect on power & ball flight, if rightly executed as demonstrated by you! Highly appreciate, Pro

Just stumbled across Michele's YT channel and this vid highlights a constant issue that I have had with my takeaway. Unless I concentrate on NOT rolling my wrists in the initial part of my takeaway I end up with an open clubface at the top and I hit a slice. So I have been using this closed clubface drill as part of my pre-shot routine for years to guard against this tendency.

I even did realize that my grip was too strong as you suggested looking at. After making a few changes as you suggested and getting a little closer to the ball at address, I was hitting flush, straight shots again. Thank you again for your excellent concise training video's.

Can you show some drills using alignment sticks - how to use alignment sticks for better performance? I'm considering buying some sticks to help improve my swing.
@TeddyCavachon
@TeddyCavachon 2 жыл бұрын
My observation based on having that fault as a beginner and seeing others with it is that it is a reflexive autonomic solution for maintaining balance due to the stance being too narrow. You can’t throw the club away to maintain balance so you reflexively swing it to where it isn’t causing a loss of balance. Unfortunately that is not the ideal swing path to get it to the top. A really good drill to fix the problem I one I first saw in the Hank Johnson book “Winning the Three Games of Golf: Swing, Stroke, Score in which a broom is held and swung like a club but with the butt end extended up into the belly. That forces the person swinging it to sweep it wide and outside the hands. The length and weight exaggerate any balance problem in a way that people usually grasp and correct for by widening stance, angling back foot on instep, etc. When the broom swings all the way back it pops out of the belly to finish the backswing but on the way down reconnects until the force pulls the trail arm straight in the finish. A variation on the broom drill I created to fix golfers with that fault is first have them swing the club back and inside to where the shaft is horizontal and have them hold that position. I then grab the club head and pull them off their feet every time. Next I move the club to where it should be when swung back with club head outside hands and again pull on it. Most will again be pulled off balance due to narrow stance or lack of dynamic tension (athletic posture) in the legs. But after repeating 3-4 times without any verbal instructions you see their reflexive brains solve the problem of the crazy guy yanking on their club. Then when then swing the club freely the next time with their adjusted posture the swing it back to that newly learned waypoint in space without getting pulled off balance and automatically swing it up to the top ideally with shaft parallel over the heels. I repeat the same “pull the club” drill with the club head posed in the ideal post impact extension of trail arm to break the habit of bending the trail elbow and whipping club up and around the body which beginners also do as a reflexive reaction to avoid the club force pulling them off balance in the finish.

Pronation of the lead forearm on the backswing isn’t the demon you say it is. The forearm has to supinate on the downswing by 180 degrees anyway so squaring the face at impact occurs regardless.
