For years I’ve had difficulty with the take away… especially visualizing it so I can move toward a proper swing. This video was exactly what I needed. Just got back from the driving range… had my best shots ever! Thanks and videos coming!

Wow! After all the golf swing videos I have seen, this is the first time that anyone has explained this fundamentally important part of the golf swing so perfectly. I tried this at the range today and I was hitting the ball so solid it was unbelievable. It also helped me avoid my ‘toe strikes’ that have plagued my golf game for such a long time. This is Holy Grail stuff, thank you so much Michele.

Very good honest insight and for free. Better than paying a teaching pro £50 to watch you smash balls all over the place , then to say , you need to move the ball back in your stance.

Hi Michele, I have played golf for about 25yrs I'm 56 and play off 7 and for the last 10 years I have really struggled with understanding what the correct take away and hinge is. I have always thought it was how you described it but have mostly just hinged it up and turned giving me mixed results. After watching the video and how you simply, piece it together, without all the technical jargon of radial/ulnar deviation with pronation, deviation, supination..... I went to the range today and applied what you explained and the results were what I hoped. Good crisp striking of the ball.... thank you. All I need now is to be able to chip well. X

What a good, clear explanation of the correct way to grip the golf club. The right hand grip being more on the palm than the fingers results in a weaker grip of the right hand. This then results in the combined right/left hand grip being rather like the "butterfly" grip that some instructors recommend. A slightly weaker right hand grip also makes it better able to balance the club at the top of the swing, and promotes a correct angle of the shaft at the top of the swing. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. It is much appreciated. Yours is one of the best explanations of how to grip the golf club.

THX LOW!

OMG...I actually love you...😄 I've watched countless videos on how to square the clubface etc... And felt like I had to roll and flick the club over through impact... Allways had a big slice waiting to happen... Only now have I suddenly realised that I was rolling and trying to hinge my wrists at the same time instead of just straight back like you said... No one has ever explained it easy like that before... Also the hinge of the wrist to check grip strength is gold...👌

Really good stuff, and you are an excellent teacher. You should remind everyone in every video you do on the downswing, to start with that little bump forward with the left hip before rotating it. It's just one of those things you need to keep repeating over and over again for all those amateurs out there. That was a game changer for me and it keeps me from swinging over the top. I have never come across any you tube videos, and even in person coaching lessons, that explained and demonstrated left and right wrist hinge, and their effect on the swing so clearly. I have been playing for over 20 years and have always been confused by what hinging means, and when I ask other people, they all said something different. For me, I need to understand how it works in order to execute it. With your video, I can appreciate how the wrists should be hinged which makes it easier for me to correctly hinged at the top of the backswing which I could not do in the past.

I did some practice swings at home and sure enough i was more square and also had more shaft lean for some reason. I think the palm grip changes the orientation of the club enough to produce more shaft lean. I still have to take it to the range/gold course but i am definitely curious to how this can help.

Just come across this video. As has been said by others, in all the years I've played golf nobody has explained the wrist hinge so clearly and in conjunction with the grip. It makes so much sense and I've just spent an hour in my living room practicing it and it's feeling more and more natural. I'm noticing that the club head is way further back with the same amount of body turn (I'm a senior golfer so not as subtle). Surely this will deliver way more clubhead speed. Can't wait to get down the range and to put this into practice. Thank you Michelle ... I think ... I hope.

Finally, Michele solves the mystery of how the hands work on the backswing. The more I practise on this move, the easier and simple my swing becomes with just a hinge and a turn. And with this, the consistency of hitting the ball. Thanks for the great tip.

Tried your hinging method on the course today, and was hitting the ball more solid. Thank you, Michelle. Good video with clear explanation.
