I tried to find a list of face powders that contain silica online but was not successful. You mentioned that By Terry has silica. Is that their hyaluronic hydra powder setting powder? Can you list either some powders to recommend and to avoid? Thank you!

If you haven't tried the Danessa Myricks ColorFix nudes as an eye shadow base, they're fantastic! Waterproof, highly pigmented, very long lasting through oily skin & sweat! A tube of Nude #3 for under $20 lasts me a year of daily use because I only need the tiniest dab for my lids. (Her website offers 30% off sales a couple times a year.) I do set with powder whether or not I am wearing eye shadow. Regarding longevity, I have applied a matte + shimmer lid eye shadow look before extended international travel & had my eyes still look put together enough for a professional evening cocktail hour 36 hours later after travel delays. I definitely don't recommend that, but the ColorFix allowed me to avoid the sketchy airport/airplane mirror & bathroom options I encountered. A very thorough cleanse & super nourishing sheet mask saved my skin afterward!

So a talc Powder? I think coty doesn’t have silica

So primer no good on its own? 😮
@twoleftfeet96262 ай бұрын
Pretty much all face powders contain silica
@ShonaghScott2 ай бұрын
Stick to the Laura Mercier one for setting the eyes as this one doesn't contain it. Silica works great for locking in your makeup, as you saw from the demonstration, it creates a barrier which is great at preventing your makeup from moving hence why it’s in many face powders but obviously this affects your eyeshadows pay-off.

But don't primers all have silicone? So confused 😮
@ShonaghScott2 ай бұрын
Silica and silicone have different properties. Primers are designed for makeup to be applied on top of, whereas powders that contain silica have been designed to set the makeup after it’s been applied. Eye primers are fine, I just prefer them if they are tinted to help neutralise the eyelid skin. With a clear primer you still need to put foundation/concealer underneath to even out the skin, therefore you may as well forego the primer altogether. Hope that makes sense?
