Best charging with original equipment. Long lasting batery
@czort1232 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the video! You convinced me to buy :D I really like the original grip and I worried that it will be bigger and heavier. I don't need a battery in the grip. Just USB port is enough if it has the same size and weight

I had the same understanding but at the end of the day, it still solves my problem of charging extra remotes.
@jackiexkh7 жыл бұрын
It actually doesn’t need to be plugged into the Switch itself to charge them. It just needs to be plugged into any USB port. So because of that, I disagree with what you said about the cable length. I still do agree that the charging grip is useless, since the Joy-Con have a 20 hour battery life, so you’ll never really run out of battery anyway.
@spyrosballas17356 жыл бұрын
Ι agree in some point. But I have 6 joy-cons and we play 4-6 people Mario party or Mario kart and some joycons loose juice! So its very usefull to have a the charging grip for a pair of joycons which demand charging during the play.
@jasmini7575 жыл бұрын
I agree with you cause having the standard amount of 2 joycons means you can charge them attached to your switch in the dock or other ways. But if you have more than 2 then I would make sense to get it if you want equal charge for all of your joycons.
@Schuyler26143 жыл бұрын
I can see your points, but whether or not you should get a charging grip really just depends on your situation / how you like to play. I use a split pad pro when playing in handheld mode and have only one pair of joycons that I use exclusively for TV mode, meaning they slowly drain over time while never being connected to the main console to charge, as I keep my Switch in its case rather than the dock when I'm not playing. I either have to set aside non-playing time every now and then to leave the console out with the joycons connected solely for the purpose of charging them back up, or use a charging grip (or a joycon dock, but then a normal dock can't double as a grip). For me, it's not only not a useless purchase, but pretty much a necessity to eliminate that hassle. The grip does not need to be plugged into the Switch to work; it can use a USB plug to charge from a wall outlet instead, and since I only need my joycons for TV mode while I'm at home, the fact that the grip only charges them while plugged in is a non-issue for me. So I wouldn't say avoid the charging grip; rather, do your research to find out what it can and can't do and decide from there if it's something you want to get. But I do agree 100% that this should have been included with the Switch to begin with instead of the gutted non-charging version. -_-
@aaronvarghese4973 жыл бұрын
the point of this is to charge the 2 pair of joycon think about it you cant chrge 2 pair of joycons on the dock so you can now charge it sepertly also you don't need to keep taking the joycon out (which damage the slider piece)
@dazzler36224 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video, it's good to see the product in hand!I actually find the fact it doesn't have a battery a plus, it's lighter, it's one less battery to replace, and it will help with the lifespan of the joycons. Each to their own I guess!
@ultrafsm6 жыл бұрын
It actually does make sense. There’s an entire circuit board that does the power and charging management, a connector, charging LEDs, flat cables, very thin pins...it’s not cheap, but silicon is currently very expensive. The barebones grip at $15, now that’s a rip-off.
@java_bean7 жыл бұрын
You don't need to plug the cable into your switch... You can plug it into an AC adapter.

@samponsite23646 жыл бұрын
The point is if you have another set of joycons......... I thought it was obvious!!! Seriously if 20 hours of battery life isn't long enough, then people don't have a life in the first place. Who plays 20hours of game in a day? Just plug the controller in when you goto sleep or attach the joycons to the switch. Even if the controller charged the joycons remotely you would still be charging it at the end of the night. Their is nothing wrong with the grip at all, the only downside is that nintendo should have included it in the main console.

I’m gonna say what I said in another place, this is a great thing to have if you want to charge your joy cons and allow your system to charge while not being turned on or in sleep mode to charge everything. Joy cons will only charge if the system is on or in sleep mode without this accessory. BAM!!!

I've just purchased two additional Joy Cons so that me and my friends can play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together simultaneously. And though the Joy Cons have a long battery life, at some point they will need to recharge. For that purpose, I will disregard your warning and go for the Charging Grip anyway, just in case the situation would (and it most likely will) arise that all four of them needs to be recharged at the same time. Also, having another grip will make it more comfortable to play two players on games like Super Mario Odyssey. Your point is taken, though, and I do wish I'd been able to get two Pro Controllers instead, but I had to go for the cheaper option.
@i.lostblur4 жыл бұрын
i think its a travesty that the charging port was not present in the grip that came with the switch. anyone that prefers to use the grip likely would not be taking it out constantly, but to charge they are forced to, thus creating unnecessary wear and tear and hassle. so by including this gimped grip what Nintendo created was basically a waste because people will either not use it and it was a useless thing to include. or people will eventually buy the chargeable grip to avoid the hassle, likely resulting in the things being thrown away regardless.
@StefanConstantinDumitrache5 жыл бұрын
I think it is more about disappointment of not getting what you set your mind to rather than the grip itself not having a battery. Of course it would be nice to have a battery for longer lasting joycons, but I will still buy it because I set myself to while knowing what it actually is.

I’m getting it so I can have another pair of joy cons and grip. So I want to put a hard case on my switch, problem is the joy cons can’t go into the switch with the case on and it’s annoying to repeatedly take on and off. I also like the joy cons vs pro controller because with open world games it’s easier for me to look around with the right joystick and press buttons at the same time. So I said f it I’ll keep one pair of joy cons on the switch and buy a new pair and new grip for tv mode 😂

@ReflectedMantis the thing is though, if they die without this grip that means you have to switch to handheld mode. Plus, I prefer leaving them in the grip and they can die over time even if you don't use them. I almost never play my switch in handheld. This grip completely fixes that problem, as I never have to take it out of the grip and don't have to worry about them dying

If you are a single player, this is useless and would be useless even if it had a battery. 20 hrs for the Joy-Con and you just put in the Switch over night! However, I got two pair of Joy-Con and I would like another grip to hold it. Now, it could be interesting but still to expensive. Also, I still can swap the Joy-Con on the Switch. I'm wondering if I should just get a Power-A non charging grip?

Buy the pdp pro charge grip it turns the joycons into a real pro control adding triggers and it charges the joycons and it’s 9 bucks cheaper :)
@samponsite23646 жыл бұрын
The idea is if you have TWO SETS OF JOYCONS! What kind of nugget needs their controller to charge the joycons remotely??? The controller frigging has around 20 hours of gameplay time, just charge them when you sleep its really not that taxing, especially when unless your playing 10 hours a day they wont need charging for about a week. Like really that would have made them worth the money? It also prevents people that play in docked mode the whole time have to click them back into the switch rails all the time which will definitely wear them down faster.
@MediaJunkie6 жыл бұрын
Well my actual point is not that the Joy Cons need charged the battery life is great. The fact that the grip cost $30 when all it does different from the standard grip $15 is charge while plugged in. I was making the point that this isn’t worth the extra money due to the short cable and great battery life of the joy cons. However if the grip was to some how charged the joy cons without being plugged in the value would be exponentially higher. As that would be a lesser cost option to the Pro controller. That’s all I trying to get across. Hope this clarifies my position thanks for the feedback.

The charging grip is actually worth it if you have a second set of joy cons. Not only do you have another set of controllers, but you won't have to worry about battery and swapping them out with the other joy cons on the system just to charge them. You could probably find them cheap if you actually look hard enough.

The only reason I got the charging grip, for the joycons, is because of ringfit/I don't put a certain pair of joycons, on/in my switch/I also keep my dock in my office, ALSO for me, other than ring fit, this is a portable device, I would STILL get the real switch though/not the lite switch, ALSO I would want a bigger screen,even with the full size switch, I wouldn't be apposed to having a bigger screen. I have a gaming PC/laptop and desktop, for when im home/have power/have an outlet, along with a PS3/4 and 5, SO for me, the switch is a handheld/portable device/for when I don't have power. Until I got ringfit, I didn't see a need for a charging grip OR a charging hub, MIGHT be another option/IF you have multiple joycons. My controller is the GCHT controller, I also had to have a grip, that goes on/around my switch, my hands were to big for it/it wasn't comfortable when playing in handheld mode, I also got a 256GB micro sd card, ORIGINALLY, but now I have a 1TB micros SD card and I had to also fix the bluetooth headphones situation, so I got a Bluetooth/audio transmitter for it, I also got a battery pack/portable battery/30thousand mah battery, to keep my switch charged on the go,also the obvious stuff, screen protector and case, ALSO be sure to get one with a red box, NOT white. I also got the borderlands collection,BioShock collection,doom,skyrim,resident evil triple pack collection/4,5 and 6,Mortal Kombat 11,Zelda Breath of the wild,Crysis,Assassin's Creed Collection,Dragon Ball Xenoverse,Metro 2033,Saints Row collection,DCUO, warframe and other games, I'm sure, that I'm failing to mention. This system is what I wanted the vita to be, the vita wasn't bad, but the switch is ALMOST perfect, 1080p 60FPS,GTA5 and Farcry 5, in handheld mode,is what I want, BUT HOPEFULLY, thats what the pro will be.

I'm actually looking forward to buying this accessory when I get a Switch. I have arthritis in my hands and was initially weary of buying one because I was afraid I might drop the console while putting on / taking off the joy cons. I have smaller hands and found the joy cons connected to a grip more comfortable--for me--than using the Switch pro controller. I think you have some great feedback here, but I also think that an alternate pov might be useful.
