The extent of our ability to discriminate right vs. wrong and do good or bad deeds, depends upon which of the three gunas is the dominant force at some point in time. When our goal is to do everything in the devotional service of God, the soul acquires a transcendental quality; when it is to enjoy sensory pleasures, the knowledge gets shrouded in passion; but when ignorance dominates, the soul is covered in darkness. Thank you, Swamiji, for teaching us the importance of discrimination.

I have a doubt that is whatever discovered/ invented by our ancestors (ex: light/ bulb, all vehicles, doctors) and presently discovering/ inventing with desire all are useless infront of spirituality?. And do we have to give up all these desies and do service of God spiritually forver? @@Joy-s9f No. One should do their karma/duty. That's also a way. Just by doing our duty we are doing same as bhakti. It's karma yoga. Explained in Geeta. Just watch video by Swami ji on karma yog.

@@Joy-s9f No, the purpose of spirituality is not to downplay the role of material science. Material science and inventions are necessary to meet the needs of the physical body - the human form. The spiritual dharma is for the soul. We do not need to give up all our desires but redirect them toward those that will elevate the soul. Material desires are endless and yet there is no real satiation in those. There are several issues of JKYog's e-journal that address these concerns. Thank you.
