One small thing that is a big pain in the butt that I didn't think about is the Kickstand. If you have a small one it's really hard to keep it up....All kidding aside make sure it has a good one....Mine will tip if a butterfly lands on it wrong.

Good tips! I'll add throttle type (I hate the trigger style as it's uncomfortable for me), good turn signals and brake light, handlebar height/size, and mounting locations for accessories. Another is parts availability and service. Not all are created equal...

Love this Video. Even tho I got my Vsett 9+ before watching this, I have asked myself exactly these questions. Since i have to get over a quite steep hill i opted for the dual motor version with the hydraulic breakes. Consistent 20 km/h uphill and very safe when breaking downhill. But its a very powerful choice for a first scooter - even if its only 2x650 watts

One more thing is a scooter bag that you can mount on your stem. Very useful :)

Great video. Well i have a Vsett 11+ Grey version with updated display. I'll use it as an example of what you want on the high end. (1) Having a horn and a bell is a must. Not all e scooters have a horn that sounds like you would expect. If you ride on the street often then you will want a decent horn that will alert everyone and will sound like an actual horn as a many just sound weak or nothing like a car horn. For pedestrians, a basic standard bell will be plenty. However, you have many options for bells so choose one that you like. Don't be that guy that uses the horn from behind them. (2) Which brings me to blinkers. If you hit the streets often then you'll want a scooter with blinkers. Now i'll be frank and just say not many e scooter have front and rear blinker in the ideal spot and some are placed in some questionable spot. A good example is my Vsett 11+ It lights up on the sides but not from the front and rear. So while it's better than nothing, in execution the driver behind me will probably not see them from behind. I recommend some sort of wireless blinkers that are rechargeable. Or maybe if you're good with wires and soldering iron, you can add aftermarket blinkers. I'm currently using these for blinkers. www.amazon.ca/dp/B07ZQ4QZDK?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details They seem fine for me and they are bright enough. (3) Nice to have to go along with #5 is a tire monitoring system or TMS. Being able to know you have a flat or that you are losing air pressure while on the go will help prepare you to fix the problem sooner. Or at the very least spot the problem sooner. Really handy. I consider this a more exotic feature you can add if you value your wheels that much and just want peace of mind. (4) Another nice to have is a great anti thief and safety features found in some less high end e scooters where speed and distance isn't a focus. I'm taking about the ability set up alarm. The ability to lock the wheels in place just like a car. The ability to track your e scooter. Turning on you e scooter from a distance like a car. And much more... I think that's about all i can think of that would be nice to have out of the box. I think the only e scooter i can think of that sort of aims for the future with these things in mind is the Segway GT2.

Great video! 🎉 What I think is also important is that the scooter is legal in your country. But in Holland no scooters are legal yet 😢 But my scooter is as “almost” legal as possible, max speed 25 km/h / lights / safety / turn signals / reflectors. Suggestion for your channel: Create different channels for the different languages to make it easier to navigate and see other interesting videos. Now all videos are listed twice.
@ElectricRiders Жыл бұрын
Fair point on seperate channels for EN/LT videos. Since LT videos are performing like ~10x worse vs. EN, i think main focus will be on EN language anyway. Thanks for Your input ;)

You gotta make a part 2 where you mention mistakes and the scooter choice that could help . I've been into scooters for a decade and the best overall scooter that doesn't get mentioned enough is the Uscooter brand - if you have some experience w/ sports or skating (so you have some coordination then you could just start w/ their GT model and that will give you what you need for your first riding phase

hello adn greetings --thank you for a very informative video---especially towards the last part --the distinction of decks and d**ks--that was hilarious .... so what i would like you to address is suggestions on what type of scooters one should get according to a riders weight ... - ie more power , bigger tyres , more range to offset the limitations for a heavy weighted individual... - as for me i weigh 105kgs (+200lbs and dont worry im working on bringing it down 🙂) .. should i get a scooter with a seat ? - does it benefit scooter handles to have mirrors? - why are scooter headlight located so low down the handle where lighting distance is much shorter .. - should they not be fixed higher up the handle?

I started off with a 9bot clone scooter that had a 350w motor and tube tires, it went 30k if there was no hills and after about 3 months i found it way too gutless and got an apollo ghost 2022 with dual 1000w motors. It will go 65 kmh but i ride it mostly in gear 1 and go 35 kmh. I didn't buy it for the speed i got it because i wanted something that could go up hills fast and my ghost does that great. I do have a few issues with it such as the fenders are terrible so i added extenders but its still not that great. My biggest issue is flat tires. The 1st week i got the thing i got a flat tire, then i got that repaired and put armordillos in but 3 weeks ago i got another flat tire and the armordillos didn't work. I ordered some flatout this time because i use that in my ebike and it works well so hopefully it also works in my ghost. I only got the armordillos because people said thats what you need for escooters but it just doesn't work. I think my next scooter will either have self healing tubless tires or solid tires on it but thats way in the future cause i don't plan on replacing my ghost any time soon.

Thanks for the review. Very clear and good information. However, I want to ask if left/right plus breakdown signals are necessary in the front and back and if they are visible in traffic. I also want to ask if rear-view mirrors attached to the handlebars are necessary.
@ElectricRiders Жыл бұрын
Hi, turn signals are different in different models. If you are riding in the streets, usually car drivers won't pay attention to your turn signals (especially during the day) as they simply won't expect turn signals on e-scooter. But i'd go for a model with turn signals anyway :) As for rear view mirrors - it adds safety, but doesn't look cool if you ask me.Again, if you are riding in streets, get those mirrors :)

I bought a very highly rated budget scoot (< $500) with 350 engine and I regret it because even though it has great range and other good features the hills on my commute slow me down considerably so I have to push to get up them. and also 20 mph is too slow. I wish I had spent hundreds more for a faster and stronger one to help me get over the hills and keep up with traffic.

Strongly disagree about air filled tube tires on cheap scooters. They can be a NIGHTMARE to repair on many models, expensive and hard to get. Tubeless air tires are better but airless tires will never fail you. Get a scooter with a suspension or single sided swing arm if you’re gonna get air filled tires.
