Thanks for watching. Something a bit different to see when corals are ideal for a nano as so many different corals out there

👍great video mate and a great variety of corals and the Goni's look incredible, would love to be able to keep them. Your doing a grand job there mate

The Goni is looking good although early days. Might add a couple more if this one starts to grow out. Maybe add a couple to your nano tank, once it is established

Hi Paul , what are you dosing for cyano bacteria?😊

I am experimenting with zeovit coral snow, zeobak and cyanoclean. Can take up to 8 weeks to clear and after 3 weeks no change but we will see

Excellent video, as usual, Paul. Can I ask your opinion on how long the bacteria would last in a newly cycled tank without adding any fish? I'm preparing to set up my Waterbox cube after my RS 250 blew out earlier this year. I'm going to use Dr Tim's and ammonia, and the reason for the question is that I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to go to an LFS to get the first fish once cycled, and I don't want to guess how much to ghost feed and so on. Plus I've never used Colony of something similar whereby you can add fish straight away and don't want to chance it. Thank you in advance, and I would have asked on the live stream but I tend not to get home in time and have to watch them later.

As you are using dr Tim’s ammonia and one and only I would consider following their fishless cycle. This would keep bacteria fed and takes away the risk of it dying off and restarting the cycle. If you go on the dr tims website it has a guide to fishless cycle. When I cycle I use a prawn and once fully cycled I then ghost feed until week 8 or 10 but I would follow the guide. Message me on IG if you cannot find the guide and I will send you the link

@@fishpalace Thank you for your response, Paul. So, when you ghost feed, i'm assuming you still test for Ammonia/Nitrate/Nitrate to see whether you're feeding the right amount? I'm going to get a little nerdy with this tank because my Waterbox tank has been sitting empty since a few weeks after my RS250 below in March and when i do eventually cycle it I'm going to attempt not to have an ugly stage - hence why not adding live stock straight away. Because it's a Waterbox 20, I'm thinking about dosing new saltwater every hour and removing the same amount of old water so it's like a constant water change with my ATO on a timer or WiFi plug to prevent it from topping up with too much fresh water during this process. I'm aware this isn't something new because it's undoubtedly done in commercial tanks, but aside from using an AWC on water change day, not many people talk about it in the hobby. Also there is a lot of debate about having the right kind and ratio of bacteria in your tank, thereby I believe some bacteria testing products will enter the hobby. Surely there must be some science behind remarks like "you can never overdose nitrifying bacteria." Bacteria blooms come from somewhere - not always from livestock - and cloudiness in the water can't be good for your tank. Which is why I believe the next phase of testing products could be to test for certain kinds of bacteria.

@@philsreef746 I let the cycle complete before I start to ghost feed. On first few tanks I cycled and then added fish which fed the bacteria however I do not now add fish until about week 10 so the tank needs something

Great video cheers for sharing. I think / hope my tank will be ready for fish at the weekend. I was going to get a bit of gsp at the sane time do you think i ahould stay patient and wait another few weeks. I hope you and your family had an amazing Christmas.

Thanks Gus, we had a great Christmas. No reason why you should not try a piece of GSP and should do ok as long as there are sufficient nutrients in tank as they do seem to like higher nitrates and phosphates to thrive 👍🏻

Love a coral update video. That Goniopora and Rock Nem look incredible Paul 🙌 The floating aquascape is looking fantastic, I like the look of the clear sand bed. I agree, a very diverse reef, this is going to look incredible by Year 2. Fantastic video, really enjoyed this style of update. See you on the livestream. 👍
