I use needle nose pliers to grab & twist it off the copper.

I took an old stand-up drill press. Removed the drill and kept the stand. Attached a bench vice that I welded two 16"×10" 1/2 plates to for the jaws. I also reinforced the base size with a brace to the end of the jaw. This way the ends are pointing inward. This pinches the ACR and I use a Sawzall with a wood blade. Took awhile but it's the best setup I've had. I've tried almost everything else and it's the best. Way easier on the body, nothing moving around too much. Just does make quite a mess in the floor. I prefer the Sawzall to the angle grinder because the grinder can heat up the aluminum and create a block if it has been crushed or damaged. Just my thoughts. Hope this helps someone.

I use a sawzall on the small ACR and cut straight down beside the copper tube and a razor knife to get what the sawzall missed

Sadly I dont get those type of ACRs in Texas. But I get them from A/c units. If it single row of Copper tubbing. I just use my utilty knive to slice though them. Them thick multiple rows of copper ACRs I rather sell them as is. And I loose the weight because of trapped dirt and the mess.

I can't say I've ever tried to separated the alum from the copper. I just clean the metal and junk off of them and send them as is. The yards I use pay a good price for the clean ACR's and they have a buyer specifically for ACR's so it's a win win from me and them. I might just pull one out of the pile and play around and see what it takes to clean the copper just for fun.

Anyone have advice for doing the same on a/c a.c.r? I have tried the angel grinder in them, not a good outcome. If you ask me the larger line I could see doing the smaller not worth your time. Thanks, Tom.

As far as removing the horizontal copper. I don't see how. Removing the steel and the macaroni ends, yes.

Heat gun or a torch

We don't use either. But I'd imagine more scrappers would be inclined to use the torch if given an option
