Avoid these perk combos (Killer & Survivor) | Dead by Daylight

Just a quick video where I talk about some seemingly good perk combinations that might actually backfire on you, while also suggesting alternatives to them. Keep in mind that most of the perk combos showcased in this video aren't necessarily meta or super strong, but they're still fun ideas.

Running Corrupt Intervention alongside some Hex perks is generally a risky play. Survivors will spawn near corrupted gens and spend the early game moving around the map looking for objectives so theres a good chance they'll come across the totem you're running. Awful if its a Devour Hope.

For the People and Renewal's little kink it has also used to be a thing with For the People and WGLF. WGLF's endurance effect wouldn't activate right away if you used FTP instantly. They did change that in one of the previous patches so you can instantly use For the People and give them the endurance effecet, but I just thought about how interesting it is to see FTP interacting with other perks

One of my favorite "bad" perk combos is Blood Pact+Hope. During endgame, you can run basically as fast as most killers, and faster than the rest. Unfortunately, it only really works if the Obsession is also using Hope, and you need to be coordinated so you stay within range of each other, so it doesn’t work very well in solo queue, but it's still a very funny combo.

If you have a friend try Blood Pact, Teamwork: Power of Two and Hope for an overkill, you'll be impossible to catch unless the killer is a chase killer like Nurse Blight

@@alicetheaxolotl You absolutely should, it's so niche but fun What it does is basically when you finish healing a survivor you both gain 5% movement speed as long as you stick together. It has a big cooldown of 140 seconds though, at least it starts to count the moment it gets activated

@@Metalmimikyu nope, in many situations in endgame the killer is camping for a kill or to bait altruism. in these cases there is pretty much nothing you can do when injured since you cant body block or unhook without being downed yourself. the only thing you can really do injured is maybe play for a save which is risky and will more often lead to killer snowball. blood warden is so uncommon and easy to counterplay even when gates are open that common sense would dictate that you should open the gate in those cases. seasoned players understand more deaths come from 99ed gates than from blood warden

I'll second this. With Power Struggle you fall on the same side of the pallet as the killer so you'll almost always want to vault the pallet anyways. I still will choose Sprint Burst though because I prefer it.

Empathic Connection and Guardian (or aftercare) is really fun. You won't lose sight of the killer because of Guardian and the survivor won't lose you, since Empathic (aftercare) shows them your aura. So all they have to do is follow your lead.

Pain Res and Fearmonger are a good combo because survivors on gens won't be able to react to the hook animation and let go to stop from screaming. Also Trail Of Torment and Fearmonger since survivors on other gens won't see the gen turn yellow.

It also means that once they realize you have this combo they might let go of the gen very early to avoid the scream which is still good for you. And if the killer has Dead Man's then you'd def wanna let go, but with Fearmonger you really can't unless you do it when they pick up.

Actually, trail of torment works kinda well with overcharge, cause overcharge slows the gen regress for first 30 seconds, so u may have more time of undetecable, and also yellow aura baits survivors into overcharges skill check

Hi Otz and community! Otz talked about using Superior Anatomy in conjunction with I'm All Ears around the 10:45 mark. A third perk that you could use in conjunction with those two (and one that really catches survivors off guard) is Fire Up. It's a relatively weak perk, but that extra speed for vaulting windows can help you close the gap that much quicker, especially deep into games or ones where the gens have popped quickly (usually because you're running 3 chase perks and no slowdown).

A perk combo I have absolutely fallen in love with is flashbang and saboteur, I originally found it when someone made a whole guide on using these perks in tandem on the forums, the idea is that you drop the flashbang at the base of the hook and then begin sabotaging, if timed correctly the killer is forced into a choice between swinging at the sabotaging survivor and risking a blind from the flash, or respecting the flash and letting the hook get saboed. there is usually a window after the flash goes off where the killer could hit the survivor if there fast, but most killers do not realize whats happening and miss the window as a result, and in the next patch this window might no longer exist because of the ability to run sabotage toolboxes along side a flashbang.

Another good perk combo is Sprint Burst and Blast Mine. Sprint Burst entices the Killer to kick the gen, Blast Mine makes them waste time doing so, and you make so much distance that the Killer probably won't chase you and will either waste their time hanging around that gen, or go somewhere else and let you finish your gen. And if you want to be absolutely diabolical, then throw Residual Manifest into the mix.

Actually its the opposite. There are more perks in DBD that synergize with other perks than ones that don't. In fact I don't think there is one perk in the game that doesn't have synergism with other perks, its just all a matter of building your loadout around that perk.

@@pancakes8816 Spies is a pretty good tracking perk idk what you're talking about, you've probably never run it. Calm Spirit is decent. If you played during the Eruption meta or Pain Res+Dead Man's Switch meta you should've been running it. It's a staple in a stealth build right along with Iron Will. It's basically Distortion but for screaming perks, which there are more and more of. It's not 2018 where the only 2 screams were Doctor and Clown it counters a lot not. The new silent totems/chests is ok sometimes. I just wish you could toggle between silent/loud mid action instead of having to restart it to get the silent effect

@@pancakes8816 I love Spies from the Shadows, I run it on alot of killer actually. Especially good if the survivor is running Distortion or Off the Record since as a notification, it trumps aura concealing perks. Calm Spirit got shafted with the supposed buff (nerf) the devs gave it. But it is good with Lightweight to leave no tracks for the killer to follow. No scratch marks because of lightweight and no crows leaving or returning to clue the killer in on your location. Also killers are getting more and more perks like Face the Darkness that Calm Spirit counters.

My favourite distressing build: caulro+distressing+sloppy+nurse's on Wesker with game offering. They have to waste an outrageous amount of time to heal, they have no idea how close you are, and you can get interrupts quite often. It's not terrible even if you get sent elsewhere, but it really shines on that map.

Not a combo, but if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend Fire Up by itself as a possibly better pick for Myers as opposed to either Bamboozle or Superior Anatomy. The already faster vaulting speed by default coupled with the little increments from Fire Up is enough most of the time, plus you get the other small benefits of Fire Up. No Way Out guarantees more value.

I completely agree with your take on Distressing. Especially with it working on the Doc. I have discovered the very worst, the most evil, the most diabolical killer build in the whole world, and I invite you to giggle in glee while using it. It all begins with Herman. Add both irri addons, along with Distressing, Unnerving presence, Thanataphobia, and Sloppy butcher. Wheels within wheels. It begins slow, but watch survivors spiral downwards ever further, as one action counters another and they are left unable to act in any way.

@@the1necromancer Absolutely. Because then Thanataphobia does its thing, and with static blast and hallucinations, they give you a map to each of them. Plus, with shock therapy they will struggle escaping. If you want to take it to truly cruel levels, add an offering to a small map so that Unnerving is never far from them.

Ill try this however my current favorite build is giving doctor the biggest terror radius with "calm" add ons and other perks that increases it. Then using starstruck. Almost the whole map is effected and with his shock you can find everyone who is exposed. Its not the best build and not sure if it would even be considered good. And if they choose not to heal it defeats the purpose but its sure a ton of fun for me right now lol

I know you say Distressing is bad, but back when hillbilly was fun, you would run the Muffler and shoes with distressing and Coulrophobia, and people would never know where you were coming from because your terror radius was so large it actually disguised your approach with the muffler making it hard to detect where the chainsaw was coming from. It was legit my favorite and most successful Hillbilly build.

Distressing used to be one of my favorite perks on Spirit before her changes. Survivors within the Husk's terror radius couldn't hear her phasing sound. Made for some fun (unfair) plays lol.

I love the combo of penti, devour, and plaything. It can be hard countered if devours done first but when it works its pure evil because you know which hex is devour but you can hide it if they ignore or cant finish their playthings.

Legion build - Agitation, Awakened Awareness, Iron Grasp, Mad Grit, Etched Ruler. Second add-on can be Filthy Blade, Stylish Sunglasses, Smiley Face Pin. This build allows you to cause chaos using stealth constantly. After injuring multiple survivors you can attempt to sneak up on anyone mending. You can also carry a survivor if you manage to get a down after a group stab and sneak up on others that may be healing, mending, or hiding. This is an extremely niche but funny build. End-game usually gets the best results when survivors get desperate to save their teammates.

Yo cracked combo: Ghostface with starstruck, agitation, iron grasp (optional) and ur choice, with add on to make downed survivors take longer to reveal you. Pop your stealth then immediately pick up a survivor. This will delay starstruck's activation and give altruistic survivors confidence, before you smack them down with Starstruck

Isn't overcharge + trail of torment is kind of a better combo? Overcharge starts the regression at 85%, meaning it's at slower rate of regression than usual, giving you slightly more time even from barely progressed gens, and then considering survivor side, gens are usually watched over by someone and as soon as you go away, they tend to touch them, especially if they know what that glowing gen thing means and want to cancel your undetectable, and so they rush in to tap the gen - but it's overcharged, making them go trough a hard skillcheck for trying to counter your perk.

The last combo of for the people stomps me, I though it was undoable as I tried a lot of times, and then I realize it only works after healing for a bit but not instantly pressing ftp. I have told some people about this but they seems to not trust, but hey thanks for pointing out the myth otz

I've used Darkness Revealed and Lethal Pursuer as a combo for my Dredge. It is so good! Admittedly, LP is kinda optional since you can replace it for something like BBQ or Gearhead. It's still great for the early start, though.

Lithe is also good with power struggle since it's pretty much guaranteed you can vault the pallet right after you drop off the killer, unless they have spirit fury up.

About the power struggle/sprint burst combo, in my experience lithe is also really good! you drop and stun the killer with a pallet and immediately vault it. you do waste a little time on the vault action while the killer is being stunned but at least you are guaranteed to get away unlike sprint burst when you might still be exhausted when picked up

Can we appreciate the way this video is set up for Otz himself? Not at all edited together, but split out among the killers so he can switch between talking points quickly and seemlessly, and using the build templates to demonstrate different points; and not only that, if he only has two points to make, he STARTS on build template two so that he knows to only switch to build template three instead of trying to remember how many perk combinations he wanted to talk about and potentially flipping to a build template that has nothing related to the topic. Love the effort put in to make it easier for Otz to make informative videos like this.

10:52 I miss running my Four Hex Everyone gets BP build, but Pentimento made it so people stopped doing totems, especially if you try and use Plaything instead of four individual Hexes. 13:10 I really wish I could use Monitor & Abuse but it makes me motion sick so it is off the table for me. 13:37 These two Perk are part of my build on all Killers with only a few exceptions. I mainly use Lethal Pursuer to get started chasing early and not for the extended Aura reading. Darkness Revealed is for when I can't find people and need an on-demand Aura check and yes it does suck if you get a wide map with few lockers but lockers are typically near gens so it's nice knowing what isn't being worked on at the moment. 19:27 Nightmare is my favorite "no terror radius" Killer. So many people forget about that aspect of his power. I've run into a few Distortion Gamers while playing Nightmare who were so confused in end game chat about how I kept seeing their aura. Well you weren't regaining tokens most of the match because you didn't use the alarm clocks. Thanks for the video Otz.

Distressing is worth it on Wesker, though. 10 extra meters, bringing his 40 to 50. Add Agitation, it's 62 meters when carrying. Distressing, Monitor & Abuse, Infectious fright, and starstruck would make Wesker a very fun terror radius build, because you can have a 58 meter terror radius in chase, and a 62 meter terror radius when you pick up. Gog forbid you enter chase while carrying, and have a 70 meter terror radius!

Red Herring and Potential Energy. I was running this on the PTB with DejaVu, so I can really slam the 3 gens. You either can work on the 3 gen and get the boost, or you can work on a nearby generator, store energy, hop in a locker (usually right after a hook to distract the killer) and deposit on the 3 gen. Something extra I learned is, if you are working on a gen with someone else and activate PE right before the gen pops, you will still be storing energy when you get to your next gen. Then you can charge up PE and eventually use Red Herring on a gen with 0 progress.

Also about The fast track. You don't want to always use your tokens, sometime it is better to save them for a different generator or maybe killer is around and those few bonus % are nothing because killer Has some kicking gen perk, Stake out completly negates fast track saving.

i use darkness revealed x lethal with dredge and the stone that reveals auras when you lock a locker, works pretty well but there's definitely maps where it doesn't go nearly as well

Another reason I don't recommend Fast Track and Stake Out is that it takes the control of Fast Track out of your hands, like if you want to save your FT until you have more stacks and blow them all at once when you really need them. SO will just give you the great skill check anyway and you can't control whether you use your FT stacks

Love these kinds of videos. I'm a huntress main and do have something to say about darkness revealed. It's good as a distortion counter and QoL. I do a full Aura build often running BBQ, lethal, darkness, and bitter murmur. BBQ and Darkness do the same job on different maps. Rpd, the game, those maps darkness is great but you can't get much off BBQ when it comes to hits. Inverse on open maps. If you aren't playing a killer who needs to reload why even use darkness in the first place.

my most common loadout (as a mikey and ghosty main) is usually Discordance, tinkerer, sloppy butcher, and Rancor(sometimes no way out instead of rancor). Ive had multiple streamers try it and they all this is it just pure evil as long as you keep gen pressure going

I think you may have missed the main problem i have with stakeout fast track: fast track is really solid to just dump a bunch of pressure into a gen in a bad situation. With stakeout, youre getting minimal percent bonuses throughout the game that dont really help near as much as they could if you get into a bad situation. 😊

In my solo que games, I've been using Rookie Spirit with Blast Mine. Rookie alerts me to gen status, which ones are being focused and kicked. So I always get at least 3 blast mines per game (unless the killer is allergic to kicking gens, which does happen rarely). Also makes the killer think you're really trying to commit to a gen when you're just running distraction and punishes them for thinking they can kick a gen real quick and resume chase. I know a lot of people don't hold Rookie spirit in high regard for a couple of reasons, but I feel like people should try this combo out. It was especially useful during gen-kick meta. Additionally, you can see if the killer is attempting to create a 3-gen very easily from anywhere in the map and react accordingly. Happy Gen Trapping! :D

For the people + bloodpact is quite good if you split them between yourself and a duo, also give the person with bloodpact power of two aswell and you got quite the chase build

a niche build i like for wesker is infectious fright, bbq, distressing and some other perk that makes it easier to catch up. the reason for why i use distressing on wesker is because his terror radius is already 40 meters, so making it 50 meters either always scares survivors off gen from anywhere on the map, or they become numb to the noise and thus get affected by infectious fright, wich is even more beneficial because wesker is a very fast killer. no survivor expects a 50 meter terror radius, i've had a whole team dc because of my build. its evil on maps like dead dawg saloon or other small maps.

WGLF and For The Peepo work great together if the killer is protecting a slug. Also I always get good results with WGLF and Autodidact too. Just be sure to have more than 2 stacks before you start healing them lol

I personally love using Bamboozle and Superior Anatomy on Dredge, even though it isn't the best combo. Just something about this skeletal blob crawling through a window almost as fast as someone vaults it seems really funny and scary haha. And it's a good way to force shack pallet or a hit at the start of a match. I'm not a super great player, but I'm not super bad either, so it works pretty well around my skill range.

12:00 i like to do a totem build that Is undying, devour, pentimento, and plaything. Sometimes i change that last one or undying with trill of the Hunt. And put with killers that already have stuff to do in his Power like wesker or pinhead.

I used Darkness Revealed with Lethal Pursuer on my generic vision build for a little while, but ultimately swapped DR out for I'm All Ears (or anything else I felt like running) because as Otz says, sadly it doesn't give you as much value as you'd think. Some matches go by without there ever being a real need to use it, and the few times it would be really handy I found myself out of luck due to locker placement, Distortion etc.

So that's why recently there is so many killers using Trail of Torment. I swear, that perk was non existent a week ago and now there's like 1-2 killers per day that I see using it :P Not that I mind, it's fun to see different perks being used (and that yellow gen definietly works like some kind of venus flytrap for survs). About For the People combo, I'm surprised you didn't mention pairing it up with We're Gonna Live Forever. It literally saves lives (or sometimes the whole games if for some reason killer starts to create a blood bath on almost opened exit gate and they get too confident). You can also use it to create your own meat shield (it's 2 health states you don't need to worry about having taken from you for the price of one) or prolong the suffering of tunneled survivor (I bet everyone love that feeling of having to endure more of the tunneling Spirit).

yes, running totem together is not always a good option but this Totem Build on Wraith is nuts: Pentimento, Haunted Ground, Devour Hope, Undying together with the add on "Blink" White and "Swift Hunt" White. If the totems on the start of the match are far away you can check them fast and sometimes you catch a Survivor while they want to break it. Once you got the Ball rolling you almost can’t be stopped because even if they break the first totem Haunted Ground comes into play and even if they break all your totems you can get something out of it with Pentimento.

For the hex build, using Pentimento, undying and haunted ground when you have devour hope or blood favor is very good in my opinion, even if there are 3 trap hexes

I think a good combo could be Bloodpact+For the People+Made for This (Gabriel's perk). You use FTP on a downed survivor, they get the Endurance and Haste effect from BP and you get it from MFT. Doesn't matter who the killer chases, one takes an extra protection hit and the other one gets a free escape.

My favorite synergies are rancor+STBFL+no way out Hex plaything+hex pentimento Lightborn+starstruck Haunted grounds+retribution+undying Superior anatomy+dissolution Merciless storm+eruption And one my personal favorites is just mixing chase perks together to quickly end 1v1's

Starstruck, Agi, and Thrilling is a very sneaky combo when it comes to getting your expose off but be wary better survivors tend to hop off gens before you pick up to avoid giving away info after realizing you have it, nevertheless great video Otz :)

pts deja vu better together is ny favorite combo.breaks 3 gens. helps other survivors find a place to heal or avoid while in chase. gives you aura readings when teammates are down to find other gens with prigress or where allies are downed. increased gen speed. now im low rank (and solo)and it might jyst be effective down here but you can escape 60% of the time with no items and 66%+ of the time with items .

Stake out + fast track also has the downside that you have to decide whether you want to heal your teammate and "waste" your fast track stacks because with stake out charged you turn a great skillcheck into a good which automatically uses up your fast track stacks.

5:48 another reason not to run trail of torment with other gen kicking perks is that it shows the entire team where a regressing gen is. this isn't necessarily as much of an issue against a strong swf on comms (cuz they'll just tell each other if a gen is regressing and someone else can go tap it). against solos if you kick a gen without trail of torment either when nobody's there to see you kick it or when you can harass the only person who saw it its entirely possible for it to fully regress without anybody realising

On the other hand, when trying to go for a win with PH's 3 perks only, I kicked a gen, waited behind a wall next to it with my ranged attack readied, and as soon as somebody came running over to the yellow gen I got a free hit. Only downside is you can waste a lot of time waiting in ambush if nobody takes the bait.

Fun fact, when I did play, if I got the "Make Survivors Scream X amount of times" task in the archives, I would pair Distressing, Monitor and Abuse, and Infectious Fright all on Doctor. Not for effectiveness, but just to get as many screams in 1 go as I can. I actually got over 200 screams in 1 play before with this build and finished the task with 1 game. If you wanna be really nasty with the scream abuse, combine it with Dark Devotion, and you have confused survivors lol.
