I am 32. And I strongly disagree with the one about grades before friends. I am Autistic, made straight A's in high school. No college, my parents are poor, plus my dad dropped out of 8th grade and became a very happy, satisfied material handler, while my mom graduated community college on a Pell Grant just to end up working for Goodwill Thrift. I am currently socially isolated, unable to drive, unemployable, and I spent school on grades instead of friends. The only constants in my life are my mom and dad, until they die, then I will be screwed. (I'm an only child.) Please, PLEEASSSSEEEE!! Take time to make friends, go play. Mild mischief is much better than social isolation that ruins you well into your 30s!! (And this is ESPECIALLY true if you have a disability, or live isolated from other kids. And if you risk homelessness, or have a poor home situation; you can stay with a friend, they save your life. Straight A's will not give you a place to sleep if your house suddenly burns down or you get mugged and robbed.)

@A13XLairceyАй бұрын
@@COOLSKELETON95x Best advice I can give you, look for agencies that help Autistic adults. Number one priority should probably be independent housing; from there, you get control over your schedule, and if you want to invite someone over you just can and nobody can pitch any fits or anything. For me, I live with a loud dad and a hoarding mom; moving out would do me wonders, I would finally have alone time, and I could read and study, and keep my living space clean without the fear or dread that my mom will find a way to fill that space with more of her clutter, and then act an angry fooI about the time I try reclaiming that area by moving her stuff where it belongs (especially if there are *no* safe areas left in the house), or just trying to discard it when she refuses to move it herself.

I don't agree with trusting people before your friends, when you are a teenager, often the only people you have are your friends. Hi! I’m 14 years old (just graduated from 9th grade, in my country we are promoted to high school), and I can tell you that some of this will be unavoidable. Obviously you can avoid it but some of them are common teenager mistakes. The most important thing is learning from these experiences that make you grow as a person. Don’t rush to seem mature if you are not ready, you’re not too mature for your age. Remember that nobody is perfect and if you make a mistake it ain’t gonna be the end of the world. I personally had a terrible experience at age 12-14 at school, thinking I was the problem. Then I realized that it was them, not me. No one has the right to treat you badly just because they want to or think you’re “weird”. The same way, try to show the best of you and find your safe place. At the end of the day, you learn from your mistakes, and if you don’t make mistakes you will learn nothing and you will not be prepared for the real world. I mean, you can try to avoid some of them but you don’t need to be so harsh, difficult times will always exist and are mostly unavoidable in your teenage years.

If it’s the pretty girls then they’re just wearing a whole bunch of makeup to themselves pretty, thats 100% how they were not born to look like. If you can be pretty without makeup then that is even better. And when I say pretty I mean your personality, not your looks. I’m sure that you are beautiful‼️💕

Half of them I avoided , some no. I am a 12 year old who watches 16+ movies, and knows already to many things. I gossiped my entire life almost and nothing bad happened. Still have the same friends that are not toxic and understand and respect me, some even support(I am a therian and part of the LGBTQ+ community). My grades are very good, finished on second place this year, and I skiped studying sometimes. I listened to my friend more then my parent one time, and nothing bad happened. I put my friends and familly before my grades, bcs I know how to deal with grades. And I do hate myself some times and compare myself to others, and that made me change, start working out and become the person I want to be. I would say to let anyone do things how they like, and where they end up is they'r choise.

as an older teen, I don’t necessarily agree with is the ‘listen to your parents more not friends’. while your parents will, in theory, have your best interest in mind, in practice, sometimes they will hurt you. A prime example is religious parents of LGBTQ children - they try to ‘save’ their children from hellfire while condemning them to feeling depressed and unaccepted for being who they are.

As an adult this list is pretty good ! Especially don't begin smoking, dinking, such things, and especially not because of peer pressure ! Because then you're gonna have much more difficulties getting out of it that the very person who told you "do it like me, it's fun !" and that's just sad Source : I worked in a drugstore and seeing the "class followers" still addicted years after while knowing the "class leaders" were clean for a while is incredibly sad. It is because of brain chemistry ofc, but also mindpower. Class leaders have more mindpower but it doesn't mean other people don't have any. Please use yours when people try to make you do something bad for you. Always prioritize your health rather than what other people think of you because if relationships, especially school ones, end on an argument about theses subjects, they weren't worth it anyway. Yoy can change friends, you cannot change bodies : you're stuck with yours till the end, so please take care of it 😢

“Avoid getting in unnecessary drama” in 4th grade we were doing a digital breakout or riddles and the first group to solve all of them got candy, I was in a group with 4 other friends. We got one riddle down and another group got one down so we traded answers and another group had a problem with it (the other group had two of my friends in it, the one that had the problem) and they were forcing us to tell an answer even though they didn’t have any. At recess we were lining up and one of our group members ditched us to go to the group with the problem. We planned to apologize for lashing out at them (that was my fault hehe 🙃) but then they didn’t accept our apology (so I lashed out at them again :p) in the end we actually apologized (atleast 1 of them moved away) all because of a riddle :) anyway im still friends with them both. And this one happened a few days ago. Me and my friend were talking in the group chat because we were bored and one of the people from the other story (the one that had a problem) lashed out at us for “spamming” the group chat so I was lashed out at him to turn off his notifications and the my other friend from the group that had the problem sided with me luckily. He apologized and I accepted but now we’re not as good friends. This took me so long to type help-

Thank you for this! I'm 16, and I already knew not to do any of this, but I usually do stuff that ruins my esteem. I don't bully people, I'm usually the bullied one tbh. Also, I wonder why you're considered an adult at 18 and 19, I mean, eight-TEEN. Nine-TEEN. I'm pretty sure you're still a teen at 18 or 19. I guess it depends who you ask. Again, thank you for the lessons! Sometimes we need a reminder.
@rozinq1351Ай бұрын
I'm not sure what country you're from but in the US specifically the age of majority (legal adulthood) was actually set at 21 prior to the Vietnam war in the 60s and 70s when 18 year old guys were being mandatorily drafted into the army, which in turn caused many to argue that if they were old enough to die in battle they surely must have been old enough to vote as well and as a result in 1970 the aom was changed to 18. Over time some other countries that also had a higher age of majority followed their example and 18 became the golden standard for legal majority almost everywhere, though there are still quite a few countries that have it at a different number, sometimes higher sometimes lower. Indeed it's a very arbitrary number and has no real biological or psychological significance, developmentally a 17 and 18 year old teen are essentially the same. It's kinda ridiculous how everyone (and the law) expects actual high schoolers to suddenly become mature responsible adults without any previous preparation for that just because they've had a birthday, as a teen myself I wish there was some kind of official legal inbetween period tbh
@MilkyWayMarsBarАй бұрын
@@rozinq1351 Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for telling me. Also, yeah I agree---I wish you were considered a legal adult at 21, since that's also the legal alcohol consumption age as well as the legal age to attend some clubs. Also because at 18 and 19, you're still a teenager; You haven't matured yet, and at 20, you literally just got out of your teenhood, meaning you're still adjusting. 21 should be the legal age, imo.

as an older teen i wanna say these are all great tips but you dont have to live a "perfect" and "clean" life like this. a part of being a teenager is being rebellious, and trying out new things. you dont have to ALWAYS listen to your parents, or eat healthy food, or never smoke/drink. when i was younger i was always the one kid in the group that was like "guys idk if we should do this" and i was always so scared of everything ... but this year ive been way less scared, i started smoking weed, staying up late, and trying things i was always too scared to try. im not tryna encourage anyone to like do drugs or anything like that but i do wanna say that drugs like weed, shrooms, acid, and other psychedelics arent physically addictive and if your gonna experiment with drugs do that. the bad drugs are the things like meth and heroin. those are SUPER addictive and withdrawal from those can kill you. psychedelics cannot kill you. sorry idk what im ranting about im just tryna say dont be scared to rebel a lil edit: i wrote this comment when i was high so im gonna clarify 😭what im tryna say is not all "drugs" are bad but everyone thinks that cuz they're so taboo. weed isnt a bad yall im not telling u to go smoke it im just tryna say its not harmful and if u wanna go and do it, do it, if you dont, then dont, but dont go around saying "drugs are bad and unhealthy for u!" when someone mentions weed

I still don’t think you should even be putting the idea in younger teenager’s heads to try those things.. yes there are worse things to be addicted to and these would be better options, but they’re still addictive and harmful. I agree with most of this but grades before friends is terrible advice. Grades don't matter! They are a make-believe currency, all they do is tell your teacher a story of how well you are understanding a subject matter. Friends are incredibly important to your social development and are not to be understated. Focusing too much on school and too little on friends is like the number one way to burn yourself out at a young age. Focus on building a life you want to live.
