My husband & I were recently in DC arrived late Thursday and left very early Sunday morning and thanks to your tips, tricks and hacks we were able to get the most for our full two days there. We did a trolley tour which helped us get reacquainted as we have not been there in over 15 years. Our only snafu was figuring out how to get our pass for the Metro, which a kind employee helped us with. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and really am grateful for all you do it . Love "mistakes not to make" looking forward to part 2.

Excellent job, Rob. Your videos have been super helpful to me in my trips to DC. Looking forward to a part 2. The Women's War Memorial Museum at Arlington National Cemetery was an especially powerful place for me when I visited, so I highly recommend people spend some time there. The Newseum was great too, but unfortunately, that has closed.

LOL your DIY dining analogy! So true! Though, going to an OG DC Safeway’s is an experience.

Thanks 😂 OG safeways are getting harder and harder to find. The one on Capitol Hill got replaced with a fancy Safeway.

Great advice! I ran into you at the Roosevelt memorial last week. You're a real person! (haha) We used so much of your information from your travel videos. Loved D.C. Thank you!

Definitely do a part two. I explored Georgetown the last time I was there(2 months ago) as well as Theodore Roosevelt Island , U Street Corridor, and Shaw District, plus the different embassies. I get the tour thing, but I come to DC so often that I'm so comfortable doing a DIY thing

Was there last month and it can not stress good shoes and socks I managed to get some blisters on my pinky toes and ring toe. I stayed at the holiday inn in chrystal city just a little too far walk to the metro but the mcdonalds was perfect right next door.

Did you still walk to the metro even though it was far?
@aquakingman

@@TripHacksDC still walked to the metro not a bad walk but there were closer hotels to the metro in Crystal city. I did take your advice on getting take out at the chinese restaurants and it was great. Also had dinner in china town. For the zoo I walked from the metro but I will admit the metro's escalator was one of the most terrifying experiences that I had in DC.

@@aquakingman You had the Metro escalator vertigo experience too? Going up made it look much steeper than it is. Going down looks like the world is going to swallow you up. My only remedy for that is stay to the right, stay still, keep looking straight down at a 45 degree angle. That way, your mind orientates to being still, not panicking, and let the escalator do the work. When I was on the escalator, the King's Cross Underground Tunnel Fire came to mind.

Hi Rob. Thanks for this video. I booked a 4 night stay at the Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall and I didn’t hear that hotel mentioned in your video. I know there are too many to cover. Are you familiar with that hotel? Can you tell me anything about it? Thank you in advance

Not one of my recommended areas as there are very few restaurants or nightlife in the immediate area. Very close to the museums and Capitol though if that's your priority.

I wish the 3 day unlimited pass for the metro didn't take so long to activate!!!
