I hear ya RIchard, but like anything else you have to realize it’s limitations. I have this one and learned early on that this is not a substitute for a boom lift nor bucket truck. I’ve cheated a couple times on some bigger wood, pushing 8” limbs because I was taking a shortcut, and it’s just not made to lean on her hard in any way. This is not to say that Stihl shouldn’t have done a better job engineering this thing, but this is for pruning, not for firewood cutting or logging. I’ve seen landscapers torture this thing because it’s the only thing they have on the truck the hasn’t been cutting sod all day and thrown in the box cab like an empty water bottle. Don’t think I’ll buy one like this again, I know better now, but if you stick to branching you’ll be fine, The extension is a gimmick, I keep mine closed most of the time, but in a pinch it will work at height but brace your back.

This is a trend I am seeing in a lot of Stihl things. Their new philosophy is to make it so expensive to repair machines that it's more cost effective to just buy a new one. It's not just Stihl though. If the parts were available the old 026's and 036's would run forever. There I feel better now.

Don’t forget the 038, 044, and the 066. 066 might not have the power of a 395 or be as smooth, but they last forever

Tell me about it. Is it better than stihl extendable polesaws

The last time i bought anything brand new from stihl was back in 2012 and that was a MS 192tc (which i still own). Other than that i buy all the older model saws used from ebay and make any repairs that area needed. This new stuff is just junk

I love the older 2 cycles. My FS-85 will outlive me. Lost me with those ridiculous 4 mix engines. Echo and Husqvarna are looking pretty good these days.

What model is that? Are flex drives in these pole saws all bad? Looking at a 134 and it has a flex cable.

Echo is decent and parts are fair but it is heavy, havent used the husky model but my friends like them.

Husky's and Jonsered's are hard to work hard to work on. Echos are good saws. Stihl's are still the best. Try a ms500 it's a great saw. Ms460, 461's are great saws if you can find a good one.

Don’t even like the clutch housing on newer 131. Old one had replaceable bearing net needs whole housing.
