That tip about having your rest power really far down is golden. More chance you’ll hit & get through the hard intervals then. Little simple things like that are often overlooked.

Go outside to get motivation and power (as a consequence). Cycling indoors isn’t cycling at all. I usually ride for an hour or so, warming up included. The route includes some challenges I can skip if I want. The first few minutes I estimate what shape I’m in and update my trainings ‘plan’ accordingly. For example: yesterday I noticed that I felt particularly strong. The first elevation (I live in the Netherland, so no hills) went well so I knew I could make a strong ‘run’. On a long stretch with headwind diagonally I noticed a (motor) scooter coming from behind, two people smiling when they passed me because the wind and speed was insane. That gets me motivated. My experience is that the amount of energy my body can store depends on the amount of training I endured. So at the start of the season I could bike for 1 hour at 30km/h with a stiff headwind. At the end of the season I could easily ride 4 hours (same speed and wind). In both cases I didn't have a breakfast beforehand and no energy bars etc. while on the bike. I think part of it is due to an elevated capacity to burn fat instead of carbohydrates. The other part is that muscle cells and liver can hold more glycogeen. It is important to train in a way that these (storage) systems are triggered which means that it could be a bad thing to cycle fully nourished.

Amazing as always! Would you please make a video on ERG mode? Would like to know if we should use it or not. Thank you!

I just signed up! Need support to get back on track, older and slower now. I still think there are ways to improve. How will I get notified? Via email or YT alert? I will have to watch the recordings as I am 8-9hours away, so live may not work. See you all soon :-)

If I eat cheese on toast before a ride it will sit in my stomach for hours and guarantee that the ride is a disaster.

if you are a cheese lover like me try to switch to cottage chese the cheap one from Lidl is the best, add garlic and mixed herbs powders + add 1 fresh chilli. Cottage cheese has some great advantages its full of protein that brand there has 34g protein in a pot no fat as the hard cheese. GAME CHANGER

@@FiftiesForward Has it literally never occurred to you that giving other people advice based on your personal irrational belief system is ridiculous? What would you think if someone told you to stop having your hair cut because it offended the earth goddess, or to not whistle after dark because it attracted evil spirits?
