About a year ago, I realized I was addicted to social media. Went cold turkey and I'm better off for it. Now when I want to know what my mates have been up to I have to physically reach out and make time to see them I'm also far less exposed to negativity.

Great clip original interview was great also. I now follow him . I agree it's so important to have time disconnected from inet or phone. To get something you have been wanting or needing to do done. It can also to just be to get much needed down time or just peaceful . I admit the phone thing hard , but very important to put it away for a period of time. Thank you for sharing

Doesn’t matter if we grew up with it or not. I’m just as hooked on my apps at 40 as my 9 year old is with her little kid stuff. Since I’ve decided to dopamine detox starting in a few days I’m limiting my daughter’s access as well. Her phone actually broke a few days ago and I’m taking it as a sign. I’ve seen her start to play and create and paint again.

Yes bro, I am studying biology, I watched this video next swipe up to see recommendation and recommendations video surplessly, and clicking shorts and scrolling about 150 videos and then successfully wasted 3 hours and fell frustrated if I not wasted 3 hours I studied 2 chapters. And again watch how to focus video to nothing thinking. If you cut down shorts and videos and sit silently in park or walk. Then you will realise . I wasted 1 year by watching video and not studying. Because I smart phones only I study.

If someone feels drained when their phone is drained and has energy when their phone is charged up they have a major problem that needs to be addressed, otherwise when things get hard they will have no mental endurance to overcome. It's no different from drug addiction or nicotine addiction

can we please discuss the near hopeless irony that most of what we watch on the internet is about how not being on it would benefit us all? What is the truly healthy balance for society as a whole? Is it 0? Are we all so addicted & in denial we won’t even ask the question?

The technology is good learning and communication tool, but even if have social media sometimes I turn off notification sounds and specify times when I will access it and times to do other work. But it's hard not to get addicted to pseudo interaction, like making comments on. You tube and getting drawn in so sometimes I can myself from this, and try to find ways to get into the real world. But if you are board and having to study on your own it can be hard.

@@marksweeney5237 it is a social platform. One I often don’t realize is. So thanks for pointing that out 😀. I think I group social media as FB, twitter, instagram and TikTok. The social where people just can’t let go of their phones. If everyone could limit that more, be more present and have more patience, we would be in a far better place.
