I was pulling for Jeremy Casebeer and John Mayer this match (the Lorax is a UCLA alumnus like me (I'm from the class of '93)). Despite the loss, this was a fun volleyball match to watch. Of course, Jeremy Casebeer can hammer (he had one of the most spectacular hits in the Austin Open in a night match vs McKibbin/Priddy). Also, even though he's a "little" guy, the Mayor (who's actually maybe a fraction of an inch taller than me at 6'1") can also bring it and play defense. However, in this match, Trevor Crabb/Sean Rosenthal was the better team. Rosie showed he can still sky, pound the ball and play tough defense. Trevor Crabb put up a solid block, crushed a few sets himself and had one of the hustle plays of the open in my humble opinion (23:05).

Are the hand-setting rules different on the AVP compared to the world tour, because a lot of the handsets (mayer/casebeer) seem borderline carries. Maybe its just the video.

The AVP requires the ball to spin literally almost zero so they allow a deeper handset. The FIVB wants the ball to come out quicker but will allow more spin on a set :)

I could barely watch this with the horn blowing... That should not be allowed.

Change the rule to no fist and this would be a better game. TipsXXXFist
