Panasonic Lumix GH5II & G9 - which is the best hybrid camera?

I very recently received the GH5II and thought it might be nice to compare the GH5ii with the G9, particularly now that the G9 has the new 2.4 firmware update.

I much prefer the G9 for photography and shooting stop motion animation, so having the GH5 M2 for main video camera but also having the G9 as second camera makes sense to me. I am hoping that when the GH6 drops there will be a price drop on the GH5 M2 which will make it superb value.

I shoot Multicam events, theatre, concerts, and dance shows. I have two GH5s and one GH5 Mk2. The things I really like about the GH5 Mk2 is the improved autofocus and the ability to power the camera with a USB battery.

GH5S Firmware Version 2.0... May 2021 1. Improved AF performance - It can detect the eyes / face at a 2x faster recognition cycle speed and human / animal at a 5x faster recognition cycle speed. These subjects can be detected even they appear in approximately half the size. *Comparison between before and after updating the firmware. - Tracking and recognition performance of AF have been improved with an addition of head recognition. - Human/Animal recognition can be set ON or OFF when the AF mode is set to [1-Area].　 2. RAW video data output over HDMI function -The Apple ProRes RAW can be recorded on Atomos NINJA V. - [4K] / [Anamorphic (4:3) 3.7K] 12-bit RAW video data can be output over HDMI.

It always amazes me that Panasonic gets so little attention and market share, especially here in the States. They make awesome cameras. I love my G9, G95, and G9X! I like my Z6 ii, but I’m always saying, “Why can’t I ________ like on my G9??” LOL

6:26 viewfinder resolution is same for both cameras.

I find that the rubber grips of the G9 become loose with in a year of usage. (the battery door rubber was replaced under warranty, but is now peeling of again) Do you have the same experience?

@@Victaaar I bought G9 last 2 weeks. I'm very happy with it. I keep the G95 for 2nd camera. The GH5M2 and G9 price range very different here in Malaysia. I bought new. Only I need is the video 4k 60 and slow motion. I don't think I have to use GH5M2 advance features. Maybe one day I will buy GH6 when price drop.

The 20mp sensor from the GH5/GH5II, G9 - is it the same as the one fitted into the G90/91 or even the G100/110 ?

same spec Sensor for all them, just software features are different on all of them.

@@kevinsavasci7311 no it is not the same sensor. GH5 20.1MP, G9 20.3MP with some tweaks. The G9 is sharper.
