Love that you're reacting to Avril! Avril was asked by Tim Burton to write the main pop song for the movie. It plays in the credits and was used for promoting. Since Tim has his own gothic non-traditional take on everything I'm sure that was the reason he asked Avril who has that aura. That's actually Johnny Depp siting at the table.
