A friend had this play at his wifes funeral. They had found each other and were this perfect match. It was a such a joy to see them together. One night he went to bed while she was watching TV, he woke up and she wasn't in bed. He went in the living room and found her stone dead. It broke him, naturally. When this played at the funeral we all cried, and I can't hear it without thinking of them now.

Amy Lee is credited for the string arrangement. You definitely hear grunge influence in Shaun"s voice. They were kind of lumped in with the new metal genre but are also considered post grunge. Probably because they weren’t part of the Grunge Era. They didn’t release their first album until several years after Soundgarden broke up (1997). They were more part of the Post-Grunge Era - basically “grunge with cleaner vocals and guitars.”
@Trepanation212 ай бұрын
Seether is definitely not "in the conversation about top tier grunge" because they came after that era. They're very comfortably in the later end of the "post-grunge" genre, which was basically simultaneous to nu-metal. However bands like Bush, Live, Silverchair, of course Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, and Candlebox are probably the foundations of "post-grunge", with additional highlights from bands like Creed and early Nickleback (can't stand them, but Leader of Men is a great song, and the first Creed album is proper excellent). This is honestly, to this day, still one of my favourite songs from my teen years. I'm 32 now and this song STILL makes me feel the same as it did back then, which is the same way you do and that's what I love about your reactions - you say exactly what I feel, consistently, over and over again! I wouldn't say I'm a particularly emotional person but in Amy's verse, I feel such a relief of pain when she sings "the worst is over now and we can breathe again" and I think I relate to the song because I've always felt somewhat 'broken'. I know there are people out there who don't feel goosebumps or emotions from music but it makes me so happy to see someone experiencing it exactly how I do ❤

seether has a lot of songs that are absolutely phenomenal and interesting to look at from a voice performance perspective. they also really stayed true to their sound over their long years of making music in my opinion.

Great analysis! I still get chills from this song even though I've been listening to it since it came out!

I've been requesting this one for a couple years now. Glad to see it out.

Shaun's drawl and twang are pretty signature of Seether, and Amy's voice is both vulnerable and full at the same time. The harmonies are so pleasing to hear too. Just a solid song all around.

Fantastic analysis expertly communicated. I get nostalgia when I hear this song. A beautiful stirring of the echos. Thank you for choosing it!

I've watched loads of your video's with your high knowledge in the craft of making music. It has actually made me love music loads more with the these insightful things they put in the music without us knowing. You bring so much further thought to every song i listen to now. Thanks again!

I watched Seether in Durban many years ago when they were still called Saron Gas. It was an amazing show. Shaun was very humble and was amazed at the crowd reaction. It was a good show.

I went to their final show at the Mercury in Cape Town before Saron Gas relocated to the United States. One of the best club gigs I've attended. It was such a wild atmosphere. I still prefer the 'Fragile' mixes to the ones on 'Disclaimer'.

Whenever you see Elizabeth do this face 🥺 at the end of a song, cause she wanted it to go longer, you know it was a good song ❤

Holy crap I suggested this several times over the last few years, so glad to finally see it even if I'm a couple weeks late! One of my favorite songs of all time, give me all the feelings every time! edit: Amy did the string arrangement herself!

I'm surprised nobody has suggested Florence + The Machine. Florence Welch has such an incredible voice.

The destitution of the setting in the music video serves to amplify the message of the music.

I absolutely love your passion and the way you disect all these hard rock & metal songs that I've been listening to for the last 25 years!! I've gotten used to so many people not understanding it at all, and I feel like you essentially validate my love for it. FRISSON has become my favorite word as my love for music has intensified over the last couple of years.

seether is one of those bands that was in the background of like a decade of mainstream rock music, and their versatility is wild, also I am pretty sure this song was originally written without amy lee and she adds SO much to the song.
@neilmajor85782 ай бұрын
it was originally written when they were called Saron Gas when they were still in South Africa.
