I own a red TD-3. Just learning how to do the whole synth game. It’s pretty neat but a lot to try to figure out. My passion is playing drums but I’ve been playing around with using the TD-3 to sequence an old CASIO WK-3000 and finding some really interesting timing patterns to play my drums against. It’s opened a whole knew area of interest for me that I have been enjoying tremendously - even if trying to program the TD-3 is absolutely mind boggling. But resulting in lots of happy accidents.
@avrilcadabra Жыл бұрын
Thats good to hear. Drummers know all about poly rhythms and polymeters. I guess you use shorter pattern lengths on the td3 to shake up your timing and using the triplets mode. This video is is a bit complicated but then again so is programming a td3 compared to any other sequencer.

Very Nice! And creative use of the TD-3. I love the sounds you created here, very cool. I like the yellow TD-3 you have. I've got a red one. Wanted the yellow, but back in March my wife wanted to buy me one for my birthday, and I didn't want to pass that up, hence the red one. Yellow wasn't available then. The way I am I just might buy a yellow one, then I'll have two. Which I really only need one. I like the TD-3 quite a bit, more than I thought I would. And have been using it a lot too, with my Drumbrute Impact. It's been a lot of fun. Thanks as always for the great videos, you are always giving me good ideas................

Very simple fun with just the td3 and a drum machine. I totally forgot to turn the hi hats on this whole video. Look forward to using it more. Can get some nice soft tones out of too. Not just acid stuff. So you have mastered the sequencer? It is quite the adventure
@charlesneuzil57654 жыл бұрын
Avrilcadabra - oh man! Hardly mastered the sequencer yet, I put myself at the rudimentary level at best, but I’m determined. I have found the TD-3 more interesting and more fun than I originally anticipated, so that has been nice. I just need to focus and put more time into it, I keep letting myself get distracted on other stuff. I’ll keep at it! Thanks! 🙏🙏

YOU CAN DISABLE THE OSCILLATOR BY PUTTING IT IN THE MIDDLE? God forbid the manual say that anywhere God damn Thank you, my guy, you have no idea how pissed I was when I got it and couldn't figure out how to do exactly what you're doing there with my neutron. I was about to tear it apart and mod a switch to turn the vca to always on. This is a much better solution, all things considered.

Thanks you could send the midi sequence to the neutron also and then just run a single cable to the td3 filter and forgo the cv one.
@andespenser30172 жыл бұрын
If the Digitakt is controlling the TD-3, what's the midi on the Neutron for? Thanks for such amazing content. I have gotten into analogue and vintage synths over the past couple years and your videos always help me learn things it might have taken me years to discover, if I ever found them at all. I really appreciate the straightforward way you teach these patches and setups. I learn not only how to use or stretch the synths I already have as well as learn about new ones to look out for. :P
@avrilcadabra2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ande. The answer is simply they were all set up to work. So I would just choose a different midi number on the digitakt and it would sequence a different synth. The neutron has a led to the left of the midi cable that flashes when it receives midi data. So you can tell its not receiving any midi In this video.
@dmhrpr7564 жыл бұрын
when controlling the neutron oscs via cv, will it slide in the same way that the td3 does? also, have you tried using different audio sources for the filter in? I want to try sequencing my reface dx in reaper and running it through the td3 filter. would love to hear some more examples of what you've done with this technique :)
@avrilcadabra4 жыл бұрын
Good question about the slide I'd think it would since its just legato portamento but I'd have to try. Honestly have not plugged anything into the td3 filter since. I will get around to making a proper video now I have some longer cv cables. Would love to hear the dx through the filter

I have almost the same set up. I have a yellow Td-3 , a Red Neutron and a collider reverb / delay effects pedal. I have a different keyboard and delay pedal but comparable. I have a Reface DX keyboard. The only part of your set up I don't understand is after hooking audio out from the TD-3 to the reverb pedal. Where does the audio from the reverb pedal feed into ?
@avrilcadabra3 жыл бұрын
Hi Patrick. I have a 12 channel behringer mixer I plug all the audio cables into that. Then mixers out going into an akai force so I can sample or sidechain / add effects. Then akai out to zoom h6 which I record audio on
