@@avrilcadabra When i set my TD 3 to 2PPQ with trigger on, my Korg Volca sample2 with tempo at anything over 90 BPM makes the TD 3 play super fast so i set mine at 1PPQ half speed

Got the TD-3 synched through MIDI to my Boss DR-3 drum machine. Works great! Trying to make the TD-3 synch to my Volca FM so all 3 will work together, controlled by the Volca. I don't know if this is possible.

I don't mind using sync cables when possible. I could sync the volca off the monologue then sync volca to td3. I think I will try that for some minimal fun soon.

in my case it only works to set the tempo from the volca but it’s not properly synced. i’m a begginner having a hard time to do it. and how do you get the 2 sounds on the same output? connecting the headphone on the td3 doesn’t work to listen to the volca sound.

If you follow this video the tempo is set by the volca. You can crank the volcas tempo knob while a td3 pattern is playing to verify. You will need to buy a mixer to hear both. The behringer ones are fine. I used a 1202 with usb and fx for many years

@@Neon_Xtal i think they only trigger each other by connecting with the midi cable. but anyways it doesnt work well to me. i had the td3 as the master clock and the volca recieving it, it works but the sample on the step 1 on my volca keeps playing on repeat, i think its a bug but didnt manage to solve it yet

Enjoyed your video. It helped, but, my TD-3 is not allowing review of notes entered in write and pitch mode while sync cable is hooked up to volca drum. I just hear quick blips of the notes. It does replay the entire sequence correctly and the sync is set to trig + 2PPQ. Is this normal that I have to disconnect sync cable and switch back to internal to program new sequences?

press back+ tap and then INT (for internal clock), Midi (for 5 pin midi) , USB (for USB midi) or Sync (for analogue sync)

I have done this recently but if you want to un sync it you cant, and the TD3 will only work with a korg synced to it which is a shame and a nightmare as I cant sell it on now if I wanted to as it is synced to the korg forever. Unless anyone knows how to un sync I would love to know

it does not have cv or gate input, only outs. would need the MO version to control via CV.

Got a question. If two or more TD-3s are in polychain, is the clock in rest of the devices synced through the sync port in one device, or do they need to take the sync signal separately for example through splitter?

I have only polychained neutrons, but I would think clock is irrelevant when polychaining td3's since you wouldn't be using the inbuilt sequencers.

connecting the volca to sync out and the td 3 to sync in, the sound is not heard in both machines, what can I do? ie plugging the headphone into the volca you only hear the volca and plugging the headphone into the td3 you only hear the td3, this is the problem, please help me, thanks

You need a mixer when you start to get multiple synths/drum machines, I use a behringer 1202 that has fx inbuilt that allows 12 audio channels and it was pretty cheap, things like a zoom H6 can also mix a few devices if you need to record audio to an sd card also.

I don't have these devices aside form TD-3, but you should be able to make the mv1 send clock into a quadra thru (or any midi splitter) and then put the midi cables into each td-3 and set there sync to midi ports. That's how I would try anyway.

I dont have either of these but had a quick google. Neither seem to have sync ports so you will need to do with midi cables. I didn't check if they have midi thru so can't really tell you exactly how to wire it up. That's the best I can do hope you are on the right track.

Hey, can’t find a definitive answer online…. Many times, when the Behringer is in stnc with my volca, the pattern doesn’t start at the beginning of the pattern each time I hit start. Any way to make it start at the beginning every time?

Its just syncing the bpm. You will still have to press play on both. Need midi to get transport controls

Yeah but u need a audio interface too? Because i use speakers that go into the volca drum by aux and i cant hear the td3 thru it, if i link a midi cable from td3 to volca the BPM Just goes faster and faster and only the volca sounds

I have all my synths going into a 12 channel mixer ( need a bigger one ) It has usb ( stereo ) out than you can plug into a computer to record. You need a mixer or an audio interface. Ive had no issues with my behringer mixer

please help me i have a problem... i syncronized the td 3 with a volca drum, everything ok. But when you want to use the td 3 by itself, you can't record patterns or play the saved ones. Just go back to normal by synchronizing the td 3 with volca drum again.

I did own SH101 back in the day but it was before volcas. From what I remember though it does have cv gate, sync ports like the td-3 so yeah will work, might have to figure out how to set the clock source in it though

Yeah looking now, since the PO has to be the master you would have to put the out from the P.O into the td3 sync in, but then either its not going to work because it has the p.o audio mixed in or you wont be able to hear the p.o. So it would need a some sort of break out cable so you can send audio on one and the sync on the other. ( after a bit of research others are saying indeed it would need a splitter cable of some sort ) so possible but, annoying I wouldn't personally want to recommend you a cable without having trying it and making sure it works. Sorry I didn't have better news

Pocket Operator out to TD-3 via stero splitter cable so you can run the mono audio out to mixer and the Clicktrack into the TD-3. Then you have the problem, that the voltage power on the pocket Operator is to low to trigger the behringers clock. I solved that by running the clock signal through a distortion/overdrive guitar effect pedal. Works!

I don't have a crave here to give you a definitive answer but I would start using midi at that point. Should be able use crave as master. Send midi on a channel the volca isn't using. So crave master. Midi to volca. Volca sync out to td3. Anymore and you will need to start thinking about a master sequencer and midi thru boxes

I have a behringer mixer that has class compliant usb. Can plug that into computer or I mostly use zoom H6. That records to SD card. But yes if you have an audio interface use that and record into a daw or audacity

that's a bit odd, I know the volca sample can do up to 600bpm but I can't recall how fast I have sync'd it with the TD3. All I can suggest is try using midi to send it clock, lot of people using high bpm and TD3's out there.

The td-3 would have to be master as the volca sample has no midi out. Slightly more difficult as you have to set the outgoing td-3 midi channel to higher than the volca uses. But better yes.

Yes. With a midi cable. I’ve only just learnt anything about this so I’m no expert. I have a midi cable going from “midi out” in the td-3 to the “midi in” on my volca sample or volca drum. This way around is better imo as by pressing play on the td-3, it will automatically start the volca in time with it. Whereas if the volca is the master clock it doesn’t have the power to start the td-3 One issue I’ve faced is that when I press play on the td-3, the volca will play perfectly apart from it will play the sound from bank 1 on every beat. All I’ve done so far is brought the volume right down on whatever sound is in that bank. Obviously if it’s a sound that Is needed in the beat I’ll move it to a different bank. I hope this helps
