I am ultra excited because it is like having Khajiit in FFXIV. They remind me of Pahmar-Raht or the Cathay-Raht. As a huge Khajiit fan, the female Hrothgar makes me very happy. :)

Can't wait for Femgars! The animation is so similar to the Femroes, and I have been Femroe since the 2.x days. Did two patches as a Viera and will do the same with a temporary fantasia to Femgar before going back to my Femroe!

So Krile was made the Pictomancer when the scions already had an artist in Alphinaud.

In fairness his artistry is more of a hobby and healing is far more his style so Sage fits perfectly with his high academic background. Based on the brief explanation given by Krile it seems Pictomancy is a way to more efficiently channel Aether, similar to how Arcanists use specific formulas from their books to channel their own.

I haven't played Final Fantasy since the 1980s. Sheesh I'm getting super old. I know these new jobs are likely for high level players but the vibrant trailer sure wants me to give it a go and start at Lvl 1 player and do all the stories. I might have to do a bit of research to catch up as I have no idea what starting characters are available for play.

Highly recommend you give it a go! Once the new expansion drops the free trial will be expanded to stormblood, which means a full half of the game will be free to try out. As for starting characters you can change jobs at any time on one character, as long as you have those other jobs unlocked! Pictomancer will be unlockable once you get ANY combat job to level 80. The story is absolutely worth it--some of the best writing around in the rpg landscape. I say give it a go!!

@@HermeneuticallySealed Yeah, perhaps I'll wait for expansion to drop although I'll likely be on Steam unless I finally get a new Playstation. I wonder if console is easier to play than PC. Likely will run two chars if I do play. Thinking of working up to a Viera Reaper and a Lalafell sage or maybe one of those new pictomancers. I know those are end jobs but I usually like to enjoy a game rather than rush through. Reading up on the classes now so it looks like I'd have to start a lvl 1 Lancer and maybe a lvl 1 Conjurer although I think the new jobs are just high lvl dependent from what I've read. Still... I think those two starting classes would be close to their end counterparts but I'm just guessing. All the races look so good but I don't think I'd ever have time to play more than 2. Seems I have some time before next expansion and maybe there will be a price drop on game.

@@lionelwhiskerknot Sounds like a great plan of attack! You'd be completely fine either way you go--pc or playstation. The game has FULL controller support and is just as fine as keyboard in performance. The only barrier being learning curve for controls but that goes for keyboard too depending on the person. Just understand that your account will be locked into whichever of those you choose, meaning you can't start playstation then switch to pc. Lancer/Dragoon would get you set up for gear for reaper but I don't think the playstyles translate too closely at the end of the day. Though I do think conjurer would be an excellent introduction to healing and through that sage down the line! And fyi there's an item called fantasia that lets you remake your character from scratch meaning you can change race if you have one on hand. You'll get a free one for beating A Realm Reborn and you can buy more in the mogstation. Just so you know your options! Hope you have fun if you do give it a whirl!! And never be afraid to ask questions in game, the community loves helping new people out.

@@HermeneuticallySealed Thanks. I might go with Playstation as I imagine that has the largest playerbase. Also, it is where I have my Monster Hunter stuff. I just hope I can transfer my PS4 account to a PS5 without much difficulty if I do go that road.

@@lionelwhiskerknot The game is 100% crossplatform so playstation and pc users play together! And you absolutely can transfer from ps4 to ps5. It's just switching from pc to playstation and vice versa. So all in all you should be good to go!

I'm glad they made the fem Hrothgar tall. Don't get me wrong, I love my fem Au Ra the way she is, but I just don't think the cute and cuddly look fits the Hrothgar well. I hope we'll have the option to also give them a horn, like with the males. I wonder how the Painter/Pictomancer/whatever-the-name-will-be will pick up their spells. Seeing as it's a limited job, I think it won't just be regular levelup and class quests. Maybe something akin to the Astrologian, were you have to visit areas for inspirations? That's be neat.
