Awakening One's Heart: The Story of Aigis

After playing Persona 3 Reload I felt like a sleeper agent reawakening to my love for Aigis, I think I can easily say she is my favorite character in the entirety of the Persona series as whole, thus I wanted to talk about her. I hope I was able to do her the justice she deserves.

One of my favorite little details about Aigis is that as the game goes on her voice actor becomes less and less robotic. That’s some really good symbolism. At the end of the game you can’t even tell that she’s a robot unless you actually look at her because she’s so human on the inside

God, I adore Aigis so much. I don't think there's ever been a character more impactful towards my overall worldview across my life than she has been. Especially during the period of my life when I was dealing with an immense and crippling fear of death, and her character just spoke to that anxiety. She means so much to me.

I know this is about Aigis, but that mention of Labrys reminded me of the instance where she broke free of the lab. The scientists that created her were so set on creating a Persona wielder, a real Ego, but they didn't seem to think about how a PERSON would react to their treatment upon that ego awakening. It is shockign that scientists so absolutely dumb managed to create 2-3 functioning androids.

I actually never noticed Aigis doesn't have any of her overtly mechanical features in the final anime cutscene. Good catch on the symbolism there. Despite beating the remake just a few days ago I don't recall if that touch was retained. The room I was playing the game in must've been foggy or something, it was kinda hard to make much of the details out then.

Lovely video ! Aigis is definitely my favorite Persona character as well. Aigis appearing as human at the end of the game is a detail I am pretty mad they didn't include in P3R. With the confirmation that the Answer is coming, I really hope they can include it in the ending there as I find that to be such a beautiful representation of her journey as a whole...

This was an amazing video and a wonderful watch, I was so happy to see all the details included and even learn a bit about the lore and history behind her Greek influence. This was very enjoyable, especially seeing your amazing reading of her characterization and growth through Aegis the First Mission, by far my favorite piece of media in general. Only thing I could suggest from an analysis of the character would be a deeper look at her queer elements as seen in the subtle changes between her SL on Kotone’s side (the mention is at least appreciated though!) and a look at how the stageplay, Persona 3 the Weird Masquerade, interprets her development and more specifically the greater depth given to her relationship with Ryoji as it’s put into question and she even hangs out among the protagonist with him for certain moments. It is a unique Persona 3 experience I think is worth any fan having, even just to see the emotions spoken through the actors tone and gestures without a translation. given you mention the Persona 4 Arena manga’s version of that story relative to the original game, I just feel those other pieces of side media would be of fascination. Regardless though I couldn’t be more happy, especially with the inclusion of ATFM to begin with. Thank you for this look at my favorite character in the series and the aspects many people may have missed through P3’s own long and unique world of lore within the franchise!

Something I'd like to clarify is that Zagreus being the son of Zeus is kind of up for debate. Zagreus was regarded as a very powerful god within the realm of Hades, earning him the title of "Chthonios", implying that he may genuinely be the son of Hades. Overall, a VERY good video on one of my top tier characters in all of Persona. Can I trouble you to focus on Labrys, my actual GOAT?

Two elements of Aigis' design that you've mentioned could also be nods to Gundam: - The Red-Blue-Yellow color scheme is not a only a trio of colors often associated with heroic characters (Tropes like "Red is Heroic" and Blue is Heroic" exist for that reason. Heck, some Kamen Riders like Kuuga, Build and Gotchard have one or two of these colors in their initial forms), but Gundams used by the main protagonists always have these three colours alongside white ever since the beginning. - Aigis' head-mounted guns could also be reference to the Gundam's Vulcan guns, which are always located on their head (With exceptions like the Gundam Barbatos from Iron-Blooded Orphans). Oh and you've probably missed it, but Aigis' finger guns are also a reference to Albert Heinrich, AKA 004 from Cyborg 009, who's also the member of the rebel Cyborgs with the most mechanical body of the team... Heck, Aigis' added arsenal in the Arena games is also a nod to the fact that Heinrich is loaded with weaponry like a powerful blade in his left hand and Rocket launchers in his legs, Aigis' grief in The Answer is similar to Heinrich's struggles with living with his new life as a literal living weapon and the memory of the loss of a person he knew prior to being augmented by Black Ghost. And while not exactly an ability of 004, Aigis' Rocket legs can be nod to Jet Link (Cyborg 002) who is equipped with rocket legs that allowed for high-speed flight amongst other characters in media(Like Astro Boy, Iron Man...). Also, it's kinda funny that Aigis does a Rider Kick as well in Reload, since Cyborg 009 was written by Shotaro Ishinomori...
