Thank you! Indeed there are various approaches concerning on the question of origin and ground of the universe. Monistic approach assumes one ground of the entire universe and it can be matter or consciousness. Dualistic approach assumes two grounds (matter and mind), pantheistic or pan-psychic approaches assumes ground as totality of God or psyche, and we can add the fourth approach as atomistic that means there are an infinite numbers of grounds. Non-duality or advaita can be consider as eclectic theory that include monism, dualism, pantheism or pan-psychism and atomism because according the advaita's perspective and view there is only one ground (Brahman), two grounds (Brahman and Maya), total ground (consciousness), multiple grounds (apparant multiplicity of things). That's why I would like to say the Advaita vedanta offers to conciliate all kinds of philosophical approaches into one frame of reference, one philosophy, one worldview.

There is much to agree with in Dr. Chopra's point of view. Nonetheless, resort to the Sanskrit lexicon introduces a religious muddle into a philosophical domain. If language can lead to direct experience of truth, then the philosophical vocabulary of the English language is more than adequate to facilitate such. There is no need for a lesson in a dead language. Introducing such a language lesson belies Chopra's own mastery of the English language. (He is more than competent at expressing himself in English, and the words that he translates obviously have English equivalents.) By turning a discourse on the nature of reality into a language lesson, Chopra seems to exhibit a weakness to which thinkers of various religious traditions have been prone. He seems to assume that specific verbal formulations are equivalent to absolute truth. This makes one feel that he is not thinking philosophically or scientifically, but that he is promoting a tradition that has fallen prey to a fallacy of inerrancy in a founding text.

as i was listening to this video, and the usual use of the term MATRIX, it struck me . the MATRIX is actually the same as THE WEAVE OF THE FABRIC OF THE NATURAL WORLD. is this correct? you will see in medieval and Nordic paintings and stone reliefs, the use of floral imagery that "weaves" in flowing patterns. it seems to appear as a symbolic gesture, alluding to the "entanglement" of elements of life in the Natural world. life was most certainly more ORGANICALLY oriented during that period, not reduced to the strict mental elements we have reduced reality to. the experience of being fully human, where ones heart is the predominant means of perceiving and relating to the world and all that is in it, ( or from the heart chakra), it seems was the real "beauty" of life in the "old world", or the extent of its success being the defining richness of cultural expressions. from this perspective, it seems much is lost in the relationship to the world with the use of the term MATRIX. it just seems to reinforce the notion of our having narrowed our focus through the use of mental constructs, rather than actually being immersed in the richness of the NATURAL WORLD. perhaps this is why i hear so many say, "the world has become so cold". is this to say we now rely of our values to be developed from our mentality rather than from our heart. NON-ATTACHMENT (from the heart chakra) would seem to not deny the human experiences fullness, but act in the same way as not being POSSESIVE would act in a loving relationship. perhaps the "narley" life of the fleeting moment in a world experience which had limited or no backdrop of stability suggested or forced an approach of self discipline. the modern worlds sense of objectivity in the INFORMATION AGE, is not really the same structuring of experience or state of Being as evidenced from the disciplined rigor of schools of thought or religions of the ancient world. ... i really cringe every time in hear the use of the term MATRIX, in reference to the tapestry/fabric of our perceived reality. now i am sure i know why.

Isn't it nonsense to say that, for instance, a sunset is an illusion? Isn't a sunset in itself a real phenomenon? To disregard the reality of experience, like a sunset, doesn't feel right. We could say that all experience is 'made' of consciousness. After all, all experience consists of qualities within consciousness. Qualities (like the taste of chocolate) are real. The experience itself is not an illusion, the human interpretation of experience is an illusion. A sunset , in itself, is real. The illusion is to perceive the sunset as separate from onseself, the only illusion is separation.
