I once repeated the mantra "This is a dream, and I am awake" while trying to wake up, as if it was a sleeping dream. About 10 minutes in, I felt an alarmingly drastic shift in perspective that felt like the moment just before you wake up from a sleeping dream. My ego was so terrified of waking up, that I fell to the floor and clung onto this reality will all my might. If what I was experiencing was an awakening, I wasn't brave enough to follow through with it. For those that are trying to wake up, you may want to try a similar technique

If we ask our minds to create an experience and believe it will happen then it will definitely happen. I would say awakening is becoming aware of our awareness without any experience associated during a period of time where we are only aware of our awareness. I think it was Manly Hall who I heard tell about illuminations which have different degrees of being aware of our unconditioned awareness. Often these happen spontaneously like the guy who wrote Amazing Grace but can also be associated with various techniques like meditation. I think your may be a combination of fulfilled expectations as well as momentarily experiencing the world as it actually appears, especially having a perspective that it is an appearance and not solid. I have had similar experiences as you have probably also but dismissed or soon forgot which is very common because most don't feel they could say something about them and so we forget about them. I think these experiences are what is referred to being in the present moment with no thought of the past or future which means we see without labels as though we don't know what things are and aren't interested in knowing. I would say that what is referred to as the dark night of the soul is basically the ego being afraid of such a drastic change in perspective though there seems to be many different degrees of "dark nights". I would also say that from what I've seen the dark night of the soul tends to be a lot less dark than the time before it. I don't like the term, I like wandering in the wilderness trying to make sense of a revelation. 🙏

I reached Samadhi but have struggled to understand just wtf the procedure was that took me there, how it was developed, where it came from and how to repeat as much as possible on my own. Have repeated the class, again, same expansion. Watching this was so powerful I had to bail. Time to rewatch. It just might become a daily. Enlightenment (if there is any such thing as enlightenment) is not an experience at all. So, this dawns on you -- this realization (if you want to put it that way) that there is nothing to realize. Self- knowledge, or self-realization is to realize for yourself and by yourself that there is no self to realize that is going to be a shattering blow.

The hard part would be in finding someone who's willing to sit and go through it with you. I like the idea of pinning the ego into the corner and make him holler. I agree. I experienced the dyad process in a class quite a ways out of my own town with another lady who knew very well how to do it. The results were beyond anything I've ever felt (in a good way.) I tried going back to the same place, but new people had joined and I was with a lady who didn't like the process and didn't know how to do it. Got no results from that. Searched for years for a "dyad partner" and couldn't find one. It helps to have someone you trust, but isn't part of your inner circle such as your family or closest friends, because instead of simply witnessing you, they might not be able to resist trying to advise or fix you. Or, you might not be able to help worrying that they may become worried about you, or misconstrue what you're saying, or gossip about what you said, or change their opinion of you because of what comes up during dyads.

I have done something very similar and had a similar experience. The ego doesn't want to die and awakening is the pleasant death of the false self. You make THE BEST videos on the planet. I’ve been following for years. I cannot thank you enough. In both deep meditations and by therapeutic use of psychedelics the ego structure has had experiences that we’re absolutely terrifying which included screaming for help in a couple cases. Utter and complete terror. I’m still frightened of those places. What is frightened? Don’t know. Who is frightened? Don’t know. Ego may be imagined but…. A teacher said to me in relation to that “Real but not true.” The struggle is real ❤

I don’t know anything about this practice or path of study, but clearly this was something I needed to hear today. Thank you for this 🙏🏻

How often is the imperative repeated and answered- say in one 40 min session?

Why does this make me want to run? I realize I don't! Look at anyone in the eye for very long. This video made me anxious. Uncomfortable and I honestly don't know how many attempts it would take me to do what these people are doing in this video which makes me need to do it because of how this video made me feel. Does this make sence to anyone? Why do it feel threatened? Is this the vorrect word. Ego.false self is threatened. Ok ty for helping me work this out lol. Much love to all. Anyone want to partake in this with me♡♡ I am in spirit looking at your lovely eyes as the witness. Tell me beauiful soul. Who are you?

Ask yourself "who am I without referencing any thought at all, without moving the mind even an inch?"

@@JustDontMove111 , Im not sure how to word this so hope u understand wot im trying to say. Once on the spiritual path and had a little glimps, can 1 go backwards if asking wrong question or asked at wrong time ect. Or can things become clearer by maybe starting over again. Or is that just my ego saying keep trying so it wont become clearer. Thanks

@@DannyQuelch All of the above you wrote there are doubt thoughts. You probably know this but it's helpful to be reminded at times. Realise it is just the mind doing what it does. Find a few minutes and just sit, just witness the movements of the mind, don't try to stop it or that just makes it worse. Then once things seem to settle a bit ask yourself "What is my current experience right now?" But don't look for a conceptual ( thought) answer, just 'feel' into it. Notice the sensations in the body, notice the sounds, but don't start thinking about the sensations or the sounds...just let them be.

@@DannyQuelch And forget about glimpses or mystical experiences, they are the past, nothing but thoughts now. Be present...

If you are really serious about it, then I would suggest you try to go on a vipassana meditation retreat (mahasi vipassana, goenka style vipassana or just try a meditation retreat on a buddhist monastery). The kind of practise described in this video is useful, but ultimately instrospection and spiritual practise is a proccess that needs to be done by yourself. Understanding things conceptually is one thing, applying it in everyday life is totally different.
