Zombies, monsters, anomalies and other horrors in VR have not scared me as much as the night fall in the demo of this game and the yapping and growling you start hearing while trying to light up a torch in hurry. Those dogs were the first scary thing for me when I tried VR first time and oh boy they are still most scary encounter in VR for me... Still can't wait to test full version of this game once my balance allows to spend for "experiences budget". I really hope devs improve or allow easy modding for this game so we can get water physics for scooping up some water from the water source with different containers and maybe even with with hands to drink or wash your face etc (would be awesome survival addition to keep yourself clean also). And ofc full body avatar with injuries management (similar to the Green Hell). There is so much potential in this game and it is finally something else than zombie shooter or CS/CoD "FPS".

the gun is a flintlock, when you shoot it you can see sparks come from the hammer, its a very quick fire starter so you don't have to find rocks every night, just hold the gun close to kindling pull the hammer back and let'er rip

Something that is a bit of a mistake is that when loading a flintlock, you don’t have to ram it down with the ramrod, which was essential, if not just making it much easier.

you don't need to ram the ball down to be able to shoot it (although it does make it much less accurate). Although, they didn't add a priming step which is needed to fire a flintlock though. You need to prime the pan with some gunpowder so that when the flint strikes the pan and creates the spark, it is carried through the touchhole into the actual barrel igniting the rest of the gunpowder. But actually being able to use the ramrod as well would be really cool. (sorry for the history dump)

@@einhalbesbrot The pistol used in the game is a flint lock so it doesn't actually need any lit rope or anything. Instead, when the trigger is pulled, the flint strikes against the frizzen which creates sparks which ignites the powder in the pan (the game actually shows this if you slow down the video which is a cool attention to detail), it then travels through the touchhole and ignites the rest of the powder inside the main barrel. Pieces of lit rope were used in slightly earlier types of black powder weapons (such as the Arquebus) Still pretty cool that you know that though.

I got this game because of this video. I was blown away by the beggining. Finding coconuts, guns, torches. Stabbing crabs and fish with pointy sticks and roasting them over fire. It was a blast. Unfortunately my last playthrough I survived for 24 days and the only new things discovered were a couple of fruits. One of which killed me and ended my streak. The rest of the island was just never ending copy paste with nothing to do or interact with. I'm hoping I'm missing something, but it seems like the experience is very limited at this time. Maybe Im doing something wrong idk.

that gun is a bit unrealistic when you are loading a blackpowder flintlock you first have to half cock it, open the pan, put in blackpowder, close the pan, then put blackpowder in the barrel, get wadding and a metal ball, put it in the barrel, use the starter to put the ball in, then use the ramrod to shove the ball down the barrel, full cock, then fire.

You’ve gotta pull the tamping rod out and seat the bullet. If the powder ignites loose you won’t get the pressure you need to really speed up that bullet. I’ve heard just throwing it in is good for point blank and maybe short range though.

A REAL life technique to start fire with a flintlock was to fire a blank charge (just gun powder and a cloth) into a bundle of sticks. You can also make rub cloth which is to WET a piece of cloth and RUB some gunpowder into it. Try those two things.
