Hey buddy! Actually, I say the same about a lot of your photos :-) And I also love the Scott’s Oriole photo. I’m thinking that it could’ve been much better if the bird was in a recognizable pose. It’s looking down so it looks kind of just like a colorful blob more than a bird.

Oh yes! Hi Jim. Any irruption of Great Grays or Hawk Owls up there this winter? We are having a minor irruption of GGOWs. Very few NHOWs so far.

Way to go! Sounds like you should publish a "Sparky's Looser Shots: Submitted photo's that did not make the grade" book. Many times what differentiates a winning photo from a rejected photo is simply the whim or indecision of the judges - or what is "cool" that year. Publish what makes YOU happy.

We all start there :-) But truth be told, I also really love an excellent and well composed and nicely lit bird on a stick photo. You can see a lot of them in my Texas Laguna Seca Ranch video. And I had a blast doing it!
