Joshua was charged with an impossible mission of taking the promised land. In Joshua 1:9, God said to him, “This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” It was the presence of God that would chase away fear and give Joshua the needed courage to finish his mission.
How many of us truly live with a strong awareness of God’s presence? I know for myself, when I’m not staying aware, it becomes easy for me to give into fear, discouragement, or frustration. In order to raise a stronger awareness of Him, there are a few things that I’m consistently trying to put into practice… Maintaining an ongoing conversation of prayer throughout the day with God. Memorizing scripture and meditating on it daily. Listening to my favorite worship playlists. Spending time with godly friends who help me stay mindful of the eternal. Viewing God’s ceaseless creativity in nature - the skies, the sea, the trees - His beautiful craftsmanship that brings Him before us. If we choose, we can live with the Creator, the Artist, the Giver of all things good right now. The choice is ours.
