i was alto 1 for an ssaa version of this for solo and ensembles last semester. i'm not sure if this piece will ever leave my heart... :,) but that is far from a bad thing. i am so glad to have heard and been able to perform this piece

The Alto parts in this song are no joke. You become the rolling waves because no men with lower voices are singing underneath. Such a rich, deep sound comes from steady breathing from the diaphragm.

Well, I think it's one of the best, "Away from the Roll.." 's, I have been able to find, as a live performance, via KZbin video. It appears the choir has a very good recordest, which is not to say they are not singing quite well. I think, a very good performance. I am surprised, after, one year, there are but 264 views. All women, is, I think, a great choice for this song. The Diane Loomer arrangement, is wonderful, and a wonderful choice. Well done.
