Away Team Guide - Star Trek Online

Hey Guys in this video i go over my setup for my bridge officer away team. The abilities they use and the gear they are running, then we run through a elite Jupiter patrol to see them in action, they act as a perfect support team for your captain as you solo content like this.

You can gain more control of your boff skills. You can drag boff skills from their bar onto your own. if they are close. Seems to be 10M. YOU can activate your boffs skills yourself.

I run Omega, Maco, and 3 piece sets on my boffs for the team wide bonuses. Also give my medic the 2 piece Lukari rep set for the 25% additional healing. Giving rainbow tribbles to all your boggs is also a good idea, since the stacking buff is applied to you. ANNNNND if you upgrade your boffs you can give them the hive mind trait for even more stacking team bonuses

I use Gamma ground set and Omega ground set on my normal two boffs. Both have teamwide constant passives.

not bad if u want to keep it as budget friendly/easy as possible, however u can get even more buffs and support from ur boffs, i usualy only take 2 boffs with me (1 tac, 1 sci as i play Engi main) and its works like a charm. thats one of the things STO gets right imo, the freedom to go so many diff routes for ground and space, and still have almost all of them viable ^^

Congrats on KZbin Partner. FYI, the Gamma reputation armor has a team-wide buff that stacks. So that's an option if you want to make this away team more OP ;^)

Highly recommend you try equipping all of your BOFFs with the Plasma Repeating Pistols. You can pick up basic versions from either of the Dyson Sphere command center's ground equipment vendor or from the Romulan Flotilla. You can get high level ones as a quest reward, but just try out the basic ones for cheap. Of course you won't get as much damage from those basic guns as you would fully upgraded, but you'll see how much your BOFF's actually shoot. Unupgraded common plasma repeaters that constantly fire will be a huge improvement over all the other fancy weapons that BOFF's barely use. I'm telling you, those guns turn your BOFFs from the three stooges and their incompetent friend into four 80's action heroes throwing bullets everywhere. You'll feel like your BOFFs are freakin' Rambo and the guys from Predator just mowing down those poor Terran Empire goons or pathetic Klingon weaklings. Check it out, it's really cheap to try.

Yeah like this could min maxed, a bit more with certain races but on ground with power creep its really not needed to still do really well in elite when its needed.

There is an optimal strategy for completely noob players with no equipment, no money and sub-par BOs. Each time you beam into a ground mission disable all BO skills by right clicking on them. Without skills your BOs will just fire their weapons. This makes the garbage BOs with garbage equipment and skills 70% more effective because it limits the already excessive BO dithering and prevents them from spamming subpar skills.

Why? Green BO skills are close to useless because BO skills are affected by BO quality. Green BO skills have shorter duration than listed, do less damage than listed, and heal less than listed, but weapons are not affected by BO quality - they just do the listed damage. Second dithering is a MASSIVE problem for green and even blue BOs. I don't know what the technical name for it is, but each BO pauses (dithers) between each phase of an action. The BO action phases are; select a target, select an ability or weapon, move into position to use that ability or weapon, use that ability or weapon and repeat. Target death introduces another dither before restarting the process. The dither time is around a second for green BOs, around three quarters of a second for blue BOs and under half a second for purple BOs. So it takes a green BO four or five seconds to get off one shot or ability. Ground encounters typically last 15 seconds. If you toggle off their skills they shoot much more often - shooting weapons is always more useful than the random default green BO skills.

Hi. I would like to ask about admiralty cards. If I discharge a ship in dry dock or "Starship Selection", will I lose its admiralty card? Once acquired, don't admiralty cards be lost?

If you discharge a ship, you keep the card. Make sure to avoid discharging a ship before you activate admiralty and get the cards.

Out of curiosity, most of the sets say one of only - take the burnham set (which I’ve got at lest 10 more days to get to ) does that actually mean only my MC can wear it , or can I put a second one on my away team member ( I don’t think I can but I’m unsure)

All your characters can wear it, it’s just actually farming that out most people you find the away team like mine is using old rep gear

Pretty standard stuff. Unfortunate that the away team is kind of useless. Unless you're running story arcs, or on Nimbus, they aren't used anywhere. Still a couple things you may or may not care about: If you're a lifetime subscriber, make sure you grab your Android BOFF, and put them on the away team. They have a self rez and superior creativity. Nelen Exil also has a self rez. No one makes it onto my away team that doesn't have Superior Creativity. As for gear, I'm a maniac, and put two sets of Omega Force and two sets of Concerted Armaments gear on them. Team wide buffs to damage, crit chance, crit severity, resistance, health and shields. To be clear, none of this, in whole or in part, will make or break the ground game. All of this is excessive and pedantic. The only thing even more so, and pretty silly, would be getting BOFF tokens to put Hive Mind on all away team members. This is just squeezing every drop because you can, not because it's particularly useful. Still, if you have the Android, use them. Nelen Exil is free in game. Reputation gear isn't terribly difficult to acquire. Then, AFK murder your way through anything ground related.
