I'm so glad to see that people miss the Celica as much as I do. & if Toyota brings it back, I would buy two immediately. (1st car was a white 1993 Celica GT 5spd coupe.)

Toyota couldn't figure out how to use the 4 cylinder over a 3 (we all know 4 cylinders run with less vibrations than a 3) and they refuse to bring the Corolla or Yaris GR to the states. I don't trust them to make a non We Todd Did decision at this point. Which makes all of this kind of odd because they did put a proper engine (inline 6) and adult transmission in the MKV Supra.

This is coming out really good. Having had some of my BRZ taken apart before, its cool to see everything they changed. They will definitely need a strut tower brace of some sort. With the factory v-bars removed, the car actually has a noticeable about of twist in corners.

This was my first time watching any of Larry's content and I wasn't overly impressed. Evasive are pros. The car isn't going to hesitate on startup. They've got an ebrake installed. Wow. The windows are Lexan, like race cars usually are. Lightpods already exist for the 86 because people already use them in rally. I dunno, it just gave off a vibe of when teenagers ask you "how much horsepower does it have?" That not what makes a car like this special. Larry's got real experience with technically challenging builds, why is he asking these shallow questions? It's got a transverse powerplant in a chassis usually fitted with a longitudinal powerplant. We want to know the details - what's the custom subframe look like? Is it a modified Corolla subframe made to fit the 86? What unibody modifications were made to accommodate the transverse motor? Could the swap have been done without Motech? These in-depth looks are a great opportunity to capture information that someone else might use to build something similar. Ask questions like you want to take that information home and do it yourself.

“I wish Toyota had something like this…” ahhh it’s called a gr corolla.
@bryankitsune84473 ай бұрын
You may not have noticed, it’s subtle - but the GR Corolla actually has 4 doors (not counting the hatch as a door). The GR86 just has 2.

Yeah, that's my biggest issue with this. It would've been a lot more work to put a longitudinal AWD drivetrain together, given that the only ones that exist in Toyotas are in pickups, but it would've kept the best thing about the GR86 intact: its tail-happiness.
