AWESAMDAD AU PLAYLIST: • Awesamdad AU [Dream SMP]
Events:
-Sam sees how Dream's actions are negatively affecting Tommy.
-Dream is imprisoned. Sam lets no visitors he deems weak in, only Sapnap has seen Dream.
-Eggpire, Sam is angry, get trapped on the egg then saved by Tommy.
-Tommy offers his help with the prison but Sam wants him nowhere near it.
-Sam doesn't let Quackity in because Tommy never died so he's mentally strong for now.
-He doesn't kill or disfigure Ponk, but he doesn't threaten and scare him, making Ponk wary of him.
-Instead of bombing the prison, Ranboo delivers a message to Techno after Sapnap gives him Dream's smiley face message.
-Techno is very specific to Phil about using the stasis chamber in three HOURS no matter what.
-Quackity is there only because he doesn't trust Techno and he refused to leave. Being his business partner, Sam grants him this one thing as long as he doesn't meddle.
-Quackity does meddle, and ender pearls into the vault, against Sam's rules, and proceeds with the Visitor scene.
-It's been 3 hours so Techno managed to escape, but before Quackity can turn on Dream, Sam appears through the lava, having drank a fire resistance potion.
-He yells and scorns at Quackity.
-Later, he lets Dream into the courtyard as an apology. Other than saying stuff, Dream was behaved so far, so Sam grants him this kindness.
-He still reminds him he'll kill him if he goes after Tommy again.
-Prison break, Ranboo was never imprisoned, so Techno only needs to save Connor (who he accidentally stumbled upon) and Dream.
-Ranboo is confused and in a moment of panicked desperation, Sam uses him to threaten Techno into bringing Dream back.
-Dream doesn't stick around, so Sam pushed Ranboo away and chases after him.
-At Tubbo and Ranboo's house, Ghostbur notices the alarm, and Tommy runs off when he realises it's the prison, Tubbo chasing after him and entrusting Michael to Ghostbur.
-Dream kills Ghostbur.
-Techno and Sam are fighting while the other try to deal with the withers Niki spawned, Sam furious at Techno for freeing Dream and putting Tommy in danger.
-Tommy arrives, distracting Sam, and Phil drags Techno away. Tubbo checks up on Ranboo.
-Everybody's screaming and panicking until Ghostbur's death message pops up.
-Worried for Michael, Tubbo and Ranboo run off, while Tommy has a bad feeling and runs to L'Manhole.
-There, they find Revivebur, who for a moment is his freaky self, but then sees the father-son duo and is immediately saddened.
-In the distance, Dream tells Punz they need to isolate Sam if they want to control Tommy.
-The next day, Sam sends a message to Phil to come get Wilbur from Las Nevadas.

Something else here: I noticed that Sam kinda pulls his punches in this AU(actually letting Dream see the courtyard, never carrying out his threats of killing people, and not hurting Ponk) and seems to both love Tommy dearly and still keep a distance while running the prison as he wants to keep Tommy from being near the Prison, and, by proxy, near Dream. Compare that to the canon version, where Sam kills Ranboo, lets Quackity torture Dream, literally disarms Ponk, and keeps Dream in the cell with never showing him the courtyard. A few differences are obviously that Tommy dies in canon and some actions Sam makes are because of the guilt and anger of Tommy's death, but seeing the differences is really intriguing and I'm eager to see what else awaits!!!! Edit: 184 likes? Thanks! fr, though, I didn't expect that many. And I'm curious to see how Sam ends up in the prison in this AU because Michael hasn't been kidnapped or given to Eret

Yeah! A lot of Sam’s derailing as a character stems from Tommy’s death and the server falling apart. so if Tommy never died, Sam wouldn’t have broken down like he did. And in this AU, he has a duty as a father to protect his son, so he’s much more proactive at keeping tommy away from dream ^^

if you notice Tommy is more worried for Sam than fear of dream because unlike cannon, where he died so he was afraid when Dream broke out. this is a key difference between Sam's actions in the AU and cannon.

Honestly, Sam did everything he could for Tommy. While he is flawed, he's a good dad. I have no doubt that he'll keep Tommy safe as long as he can, and hopefully the others will too. I love c!Techno, but I'm kind of glad Sam punched him for Tommy. Epic dad moment when he can bring the Blood God to his knees in righteous fury! (SERIOUSLY, I LOVE TECHNO, I SWEAR) That one frame with Niki made me giggle Poor Ranboo, but HE'S ALIVE AND MICHAEL IS OK

Oh my god this is such an amazing AU!! I love the easter eggs and all of the changes that are affected by this AU. The egg control over Tommy and Sam, Techno specifying three HOURS and not MONTHS to Phil (that was very funny btw), Sam not killing Ranboo, him taking Dream to the courtyard, him not letting Quackity torture Dream, and him not killing Ponk. I like that he's more merciful, and generous, it could be probably be because of the influence that he wants to be towards Tommy. I also find it interesting that Ghostbur's death happened AFTER the jailbreak and not before, but it's still sad that he still died by the hands of Dream, I'm glad that Michael's okay though. Also Techno's face of pure rage after Sam punched him was super creepy, and I loved it! I also love how Dream is still finding a way to have a hold on/manipulate Sam with the green strings, even in this AU. I loved it!! Amazing as always!!

It's amazing when one little difference can create such a different chain of events. It's also good to see an AU that actually takes into account the actual characters and what they would actually do if put into a different situation. I do wonder this Dream realises that his treatment was actually pretty decent and he even got protected when someone else tried to hurt him (though I guess he took it as a guarantee that Sam would treat him right, until c!Sam's breakdown in canon lore proved him wrong). This was so cool! I am so happy to have seen this! It's really smart the was that the antimatic shows how different certain choices would be and how different characters change because of it. It also shows alternative routes that Sam could've taken instead of his real choices (aka, killing ponk, taking his arm, but here he missed Ponk And just threatened him for his own safety :D)

Difference between canon and au Sam is that au Sam isn't broken down and traumatised like canon Sam is. He's not being manipulated by quackity or dream, he's not affected by Tommy's death because it never happened. AU Sam is in control because he has a duty as a father above being the Warden. And he didn't "miss" Ponk, he purposely aimed right it front of him to make him stop.

AAAAAAHHHHHH THIS AU IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!! Also, I’ve have a little thinkitey think. If it is okay with Grimmi, I wanted to make sort of a spinoff plot thing where Tommy disobeys Sam’s order to stay away from the prison and, in secret, fills in as warden while Sam is still recovering (it takes Sam a bit longer to recover in this version). Thus, angst, Egg things, and Discduo shenanigans ensue. But only if its okay with Grimmi, of course. :D

Thanks :D The lore for those two is relatively the same, because instead of wanting revenge, Ponk is terrified of what Sam threatened and what he *might* do. So it's more of a 'I gotta stop you before you actually do anything' kinda thing.
