They didn’t want the other team to take it out the end zone to just run it to the 2 minute warning on the change of possession since there were like 3 seconds until the 2 minute warning. Also they can only kick onsides (and declare them) in the 4th quarter. Honestly thought it was a really smart coaching move to basically guarantee an additional clock stoppage
