Awesome Dirt-track Drift Racing; Ford vs Holden Utes (HD)
V8 Ute "Ford vs Holden" Challenge staged for the Royal Adelaide Show (2015) on the site of an historic icon of Australian motor sports.
Australian 'Rev Heads' are traditionally divided into two camps, Holden and Fords.
The 'Ute' was invented in Australia in 1934 by Ford and was so popular Holden (GMH) subsequently produced their own version in1951. A whole sub-culture has developed around it with Australian country singers dedicating songs to it. In country areas there are even festivals called 'Ute Musters'.
The V8 Ute "Ford vs Holden" Challenge is an individual pursuit style challenge between two pairs of Ford and Holden Utes which start on the opposite side of the speedway-shaped dirt track to each other. After a full lap they drop a 180 degree sweep before racing back to their respective starting spot.
"It's a fun event encouraging friendly rivalry between Ford and Holden fans." The event is part of a free program of entertainment included in the entry fee to South Australia's premier agricultural exposition.
