Awesome Glass Northern Traction Elevators @ Smithsonian Museum of Natural History - Washington, DC

(1-11-20) I don't see too many Northern elevators, so this was a cool find. These have a very interesting layout for the fixtures with the call buttons/panels on their own little section and the PI on the ceiling. They also have neat sounding motors.

These are US too. Northern is Canadian US. I love that early EPCO Chime!! Northern/US use the same doors, door operators, ECI interlocks, etc So again Northern - Canadian US & US is American Northern

Nope. They were both part of Thyssen in the 90s, but I believe they were operationally separate. Their lifts are very different in a lot of ways too...

The last time I rode these, there were so busy! Did you film this at a low traffic hour? This elevator is a bottom drive traction.

In that case you went at the perfect time. Usually it's PACKED. You can almost never get a nonstop flight on any passenger elevator in the building
