50 year ago I landed here and just before the landing the pilot said that it would be terrifying and indeed it was . When we went out of the plane, just a few meters beyond was the ocean.. A year later a plane went down in the sea en for several years only small TAP airplanes did fly to Madeira. Later they build the bridge where the new lane is on. And a building. 50 years ago you just have to go through the rocks to a road. All 3 weeks I spent in Madeira I was terrified to go home!

Until 2000 the rwy lenth was 1800 M . Now the RWY lenth is 2781.

Nice landing. The first time I went to Madeia was in 1992 on the Air Atlantis company on the Boeing 737-300 and the runway at Funchal airport was much smaller.
