kids want to go to war, other possibility, starve to death without merc-money or supplies from fallen soldirs on the battlefield in a war-zone. War is hell. read Simplicius Simplicissimus or the german serie of 1970 if you can understand german.

For strategy purposes in defense. Hold off on infantry at siege tower, just as their gate drops swarm the choke point. When attacking, have archers focus on chokepoints. eliminate as many men in the way, thus leaving room for infantry to walk right in.

idk if your already doing this Pixie but have separate squads that are just archers or infantry and only you an talk to them so you can coordinate attacks or defense with them. Also try sending out sallying parties though other doors with some specific squads. Just my opinion . Also you can have specific squads with just single handed weapons or two handers This is what I think you don't have to do what I say. :)
