You've tried so many methods * cover, guess, check + testing with your classmate *acting in a French drama club * reading magazines + listening to cassette... as we can see different ones for various languages. I think combination of all of them & your efforts have given such a good result, perfect outcome. Thanks for inspiration.

Hello Keith, I could stay for hours listening to you speaking with that wonderful British accent. I am Argentine, I learnt English when I was very young. Now I'm 62 and findd that learning languages is amazing. Five years ago I started learning French and now I can have a conversation or read or listen. I went on changing my methode. Once I felt confortable with the basic grammar rules I started watching videos of different subjets just to grasp the accent and the vocabulary of real people. Now, I am learning German ! My level is really basic but one day I found myself reading and listening to a simple story. And that was so motivating !!! As you said, each one has his own methode. Mine is as simple as go on changing methodes !

Thanks a million Keith, İ agree with you. I am 63 and I am still learning English (C1-C2 level I guess) and French (B1 level). The best method for me is listening, I am listening different accents (İrish, Ausralian, Posh, US colored people, etc) to improve my undetstanding abilities. Grace á KZbin. I will try your drama method (of course it will be one man show for myself). Thanks again...

A very good video! You and Luke from LEP (I discovered him thanks to your suggestion on your website few years ago ☺) are my "English pillars". I bought three courses from you and I am using them for improve my English and not for doing an exam. I think a really big plus that you have is this: you exactly know what learning a second language means because you are like us :) Your language journey is both inspiring and exciting, thanks to share to us. As Italian I would like to know your Italian journey now xD My method of learning English is focusing on listen videos in English on You Tube, watching some series and anime in English with english subtitles and, of course, watching and listen some your videos (+ doing your courses) and Luke's podcast on his You Tube's channel. I also do some "shadow reading" always with Luke's video (when there is a script on his videos) and I read some comments, some posts on internet in English. I bought some DK's History Illustrated books (in english) and I am trying to read one of them. My plan is read all of them both for practicing my English and improve my history's knowledges :) Thank you Keith... grazie di tutto! P.S. sorry for any mistake but I didn't use chatbot or google translation for correct this message.

I also put listening and speaking ahead of reading, grammar and writing. I think, its more important, especially for adult ppl who usually use english only in conversation. Reading is great when you already reach B2 level and if you want to upgrade knowledge and apsorb new words that you usually dont use in daily conversation. But for someone, who is learner (currently, iam learning for B1 level), reading is unnecessary. You just overload your brain with unimportant words and put pressure on yourself. And ofc, you have to translate each word and see how to pronounce that. Listening provide better approach to english and its easier to memorize and by time, you just start to use those words spontaneously. Its just come out of you naturally because you heard that word somewhere.
@4rest216
@4rest216 Ай бұрын
you're right. The problem of reading too much before you reach a decent level of your target language is that you probably end up repeating the pronunciation mistakes over and over again in your head if you haven't got the hang of pronunciation and intonation.

My motivation is people like yours, and curiosity for every language, of course, to understand but more for connection with the real world, my way to improving my language is similar to the website Open English, I stayed exposed to different contexts in English, listening podcasts and watch videos like that, writing a daily routine, searching on the internet, help me a lot, because at the beginning was very hard to remember the worlds, right now is easier and I can say in different ways what I want to show for the others, I use application Wlingua, for improve and recorder in my mind more words and expressions, phrases and connotations, and speak out loud when I listening music, following lyrics, is good because I love music like Rock and Roll in American voice, for me is the bester just women, like Nightwish is amazing. In resume, listening, Speaking, Writing, Reading too on the internet and magazines online. I started learning that language two years ago, and I can do it every day for one hour or more. I want to improve more because I plan to use it in a new job. This is my dream in that place where I live because the people here have many opportunities if their communication is better, and of course, without frontiers. In addition, I use Grammarly to correct my mistakes, because obviously, I make yet. As you say in another video and this never blew out of my mind, okay donkey. Thanks, Kieth, your teaching method is very good and helped me a lot.

Dear Keith, I have tried a lot of methods to learn English: a personal teacher, group lessons, videos on KZbin, mobile Apps and, finally, 24/7 conversation with my husband (he is native speaker). Well, I could learn English from 0 to strong A1 for 4 months only because of my incredible personal teacher plus my highest motivation. Then, with that group lessons/mobile Apps/etc. I've just wasted my time and money. Thanks God I've met him, my husband. It was very challenging from the first time but I could very shortly improve my language skills. P.S. I am a communicator. Probably because of this one I could find my own methods 😊 Thanks for sharing your experience ❤

Hi there! I truly want to thank you for all the helpful tips and strategies for IELTS success... I can't thank you enough! 😊 After 15 days of intense preparation, I got my results for computer-based IELTS yesterday (one day after the test): 8.5 in Reading & Listening, 7.0 in Writing and 8.0 in Speaking. Your recommendations and encouragement really helped! Over all, someone very dear to me advised me to enjoy the preparation process, regardless of the result, since IELTS is more of a personal challenge than anything else. I couldn't be happier with my overall 8 band score, and be sure that your videos and resources were essential in the training process that lead to this result. May all your hard work and generosity with your students be rewarded! You are a fantastic teacher and person! ❤
